Who sells Barefoot running shoes? ?

Kenidy

I wanna run & such for soccer & tone up a bit. So, anyway Barefoot running sounds like a good thing. I can't go to a shoe expert so gimme your best experienced opinion please! Where should I go to get good barefoot running shoes? Have a specific kind? Made by what company?

Answer
Well I went to a Nike store, and they had really good barefoot running shoes for men. I would assume they would have some good women shoes also. I don't really like barefoot running though. It gives the impression of running barefoot, which I enjoy, but it has no cushion or structure for your foot in the shoe. I like the shoes that are light, have a good cushion, and have good structural support. http://store.nike.com/us/en_us/?l=shop,pwp,c-1+100701/hf-4294965522+4294967197&cp=USNS_KW_0611081618 Here's a link to the nike store. See how the top shoe for women has a nice cushion and good support? While the free running (barefoot) has little support or cushion. Hope I could help. Best of luck.

Answer mine please? (just give me a why and you'll get best answer) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhQA4ik.QASJrEUsBXVs8D7ty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20120519120828AA5Hj6L

High-heel shoes were INTENTIONALLY invented by men to make girls unable to run?

Laurie fro

That's what a main character said in a particular movie. (...along with "to make a girl's butt look smaller"...)

If that is true, then what's the point? Why would the particular guy who invented the shoes have to gain by seeing girls try to run (far any reason) and they're unable to do it?

Running Shoes ???

lopezjl137

I'm looking for a great pair of running shoes and need some advice from fellow runners. I will primarly be running on the street with a few hills so I'm looking for comfort and lightweight styles if you can please provide a link for the shoe you reccomend. Thank You

Answer
...

Street running, hills, comfort, lightweight. These are your given requirements for a shoe.

Do you pronate or supinate?

Heel-strike, flat, ball of foot strike?

Budget?

Wide foot, narrow, average?

Miles per week?

The challenge is that your foot is your foot. To really get a good idea of what to buy and wear, do the following.

-get the most recent Runner's World shoe evaluation issue. If it's not available in the stores, a good library will have it. Read it, review it. Some of the discussions are moderately technical, but there will be tables to look at that can give you a to-the-point idea of what shoe may work for you.

-go to a good running specialty store. The better ones will have knowledgeable runners or sports specialists that can discuss and evaluate your running style and match an appropriate shoe to it. The best ones will do a (no to low cost) gait analysis that will indicate how you run, and what shoe would match your running style.

-try the shoes on in the store. Walk, run in them, in the store.

-walk around indoors at home before taking them on the street. Don't expect them to "stretch" - modern fabrics (unless you do happen to get the odd leather shoe) provide support and don't stretch. If it hurts you while you walk around at home, believe me, they'll hurt on the road.

Sometimes when you "take them on the road," after awhile they still may hurt. When I'm switching to a new model, I sometimes go through three or four models on the way to finding one that really works well for me.

***MY CURRENT CHOICE - FOR MY FEET***

I run about 30 miles a week. Weigh 164 (5'7"). Male. Slight toe out gait. Flat strike. Race half marathons, mostly, abouyt 7:30 pace. I run on roads with hills, treadmills, crushed limestone paths.

After Nike went way too soft (like marshmallows) on cushioning, after 20 years using the Pegasus I switched to Asics gels. Currently I use the 1120. Good support; protective sole; moderate (not too much) cushioning. For a training shoe, adequately lightweight.

Regards,

Running_Dad

Does anyone recommend a running shoe with really good arch support?

Truth Hurt

I'm not much of a runner however I would like to be. When I work out in certain tennis shoes (walking/running) my arch starts to bother me. Does anyone know of a good shoe for this problem? Also, 3 years ago, I bought a nice pair of adidias tennis shoes and I just recently started having that problem with them. I was told you are supposed to get new shoes every so often. Is this maybe why these shoes now bother my arch?

Answer
For running, you'll want running shoes, not tennis shoes. Go to a running specialty store and talk to the employees there. They will be able to fit you with the right shoe for your feet. If you don't have a local running store, try the shoe dog at http://www.roadrunnersports.com Shoe dog will look for shoes based on the shape of your foot, your weight, and the amount that you run.

You'll want to replace your sneakers when they wear out, which is after about 300 - 500 miles or one year. Or whenever they start to give you pain.

How much toe room should there be in athletic shoes for an adult man?

John

I used to get shoes that had at least a thumb-width extra room after the end of the toe. Now that I'm no longer growing, is a thumb-width too much? Should I get them so that they're almost flush (but not actually touching)?

Thanks!

Answer
There's no specific amount that should be left, as long as it's comfortable to you, that should be it.

But I suggest that you leave enough room so that you can wear your shoes with thick socks without your foot feeling like it's being compressed.

what are the best type of athletic shoes to wear?

For walking and/or exercising...Nike, New Balance, etc?

Answer
Merrell

The top honours for the best rated walking shoes in the UK go to Merrell. Merrell shoes have consistently stood out for quality, durability and comfort. An example is the Womenâs Merrell Chameleon Arc Gore-Text Pewter Shoes. Available in grey and blue colours, this shoe weighs just slightly above 1lb and is packed with features that guarantee comfort and safety. Not only is this shoe waterproof, it is also fully ventilated through its mesh uppers. It has a moulded heel to help absorb shock and, for a good grip on walking surfaces, it is fitted with 4mm treads.

Salomon Exit Peak

Another shoe that fights for top honours in the UK market is the Menâs Salomon Exit Peak. Weighing in at slightly below 400 grams, this shoe is made with serious comfort and security considerations in mind. The walkerâs grip is guaranteed by the Contagrip Outsole while the inside is lined with textile to keep feet comfortable. This is a durable shoe as it is made of suede leather while the mixture of dark clay and autobahn makes it a very nice looking shoe. Moreover, it is quite reasonably priced.

Avia

Avia offer a different variety of walking shoe, which are more suitable for light, regular walking on urban terrain. They have a range of walking shoes, all at very reasonable prices, which are perfect if youâre new to the walking scene and want something that looks like a trainer but gives you a little more support. Aviaâs shoes arenât suitable for any heavy hiking or rough terrain, but they offer options for both men and women.

MBT One of the best rated walking shoes

MBT are another company that provide some of the more affordable and lightweight walking shoe options are another of the best rated walking shoes manufacturers. They focus on helping your posture while you walk with their unique shape with a rounded soul that distributes weight more evenly across your foot when you walk and avoids extra strain on your spine and back muscles.

How to get my almost 1 year old to wear shoes?

Q. My soon to be 1 year old hates shoes you put them on his feet and he acts like it's the end of the world . HE stands completely still when he has them on also . Hmm which me a Idea to get him to stay in place. J/k j/k anyways how do I get him use to shoes because he wants to walk when he is outside
I have tried 3 different pairs of shoes I will try something softer

Answer
Try something with a very flexible sole, he may not like the feeling of the somewhat stiffer soles that most baby shoes have.

When my oldest was a baby I had a neighbor who had a lot of children, and this is what she told me, she said that most when kids start walking it was best to keep them barefoot most of the time, and when you couldn't, because they were outside or the floor was too cold, to put them in shoes that were almost no shoe, it helps them build their foot muscles.

Cheers

How can I get my 1 year old to wear shoes?

Q. My son is turning one and I have never put shoes on him. I just thought it would be uncomfortable for him. Now that he is about to start walking I want him to start wearing shoes. When I put them on him he screams and cries.
What can I do to make him more comfortable in shoes?
It doesn't matter what kind of shoe, I think he just doesn't like anything on his feet.

Answer
The shoes you are putting on him may not be the best fit, they are prob not the cutest shoes but the best ones for learning how to walk are the white high top lace up ones. They sell them at stride rite you can see them here http://www.striderite.com/jump.jsp?itemType=GATEWAY&itemID=221 or wal-mart or target. Try that and also have his feet sized because maybe they are just not the right fit. I hope that helps.

Best running shoes for high arches?

I want to run a marathon, but I have high arches and don't want to wear shoes that will hurt me! Any suggestions?

Answer
The Saucony Grid Cohesion NX is a neutral cushioning shoe, good for runners with high arches and those who do not overpronate (feet naturally roll inward). Many consumers give it 5 stars, citing that this shoe is extremely comfortable, with a spacious forefoot that accommodates most widths, though it does come in two widths (for both men and women). Other great features of this running shoe is that it offers good traction, better than average heel cushioning and a breathable upper mesh for cooler feet. Whereas many shoes run $95 and up, this running shoe is more than a budget buy; it is a bargain at almost half that cost.

Here is some links to help you see the prices that these shoes go for:

Can i wear regular running shoes for a trail marathon?

I entered into a trail marathon, and I have to cross a stream and my feet will definetley be getting wet. I hear trail running shoes are heavier, I dont know if its worth buying trail shoes just for this. Any info will be helpful. Thanks

Answer
As already mentioned, it depends on the trail. Also, it depends on you.

Personally, I rarely use trail shoes in a trail race because they are generally heavier, bulkier, and stiffer than road shoes. I often race with a lightweight road shoes. Another advantage of those is that your foot is lower to the ground, lower center of gravity, which gives you more lateral stability and a better feel for the trail. Other people I know, however, will use trail shoes even when racing on a smooth dirt path. On the roads, I run in the least supportive shoe possible - I have good feet and a good stride. If you need supportive road shoes, you could benefit from a more supportive trail shoes.

Someone mentioned New Balance trail shoes. I have a pair of the NB790s that I just love. They fit like a slipper, are very light, low to the ground, and have pretty good traction.

On many hard packed trails, traction isn't an issue. However, the added traction from a trail shoe can be helpful if there's a lot of sand/loose soil or mud. Another advantage is protection from hard rocks. My feet are used to running on rocks, so that's not something I worry about, though most others do.

I wouldn't worry too much about water protection, like from a Gore-Tex lined shoe. If you're running through streams, the water is going to come in over the top of the ankle. So, lining the shoe with Gore-Tex won't help. In fact, it might even make it harder to dry out. Wear a synthetic or wool sock, and you should be fine.

I do often wear trail shoes when training. There, I don't worry about the added weight.

You can also think about using them more than just for this one race. You may fall in love with running trails and want to do a lot more.

Is it okay to use trail running shoes for track?

:D

I am running track and I recently brought trail running shoes. Will it affect me in any way if I use them as opposed to my usual running shoes for track?

Answer
Trail running shoes are pretty much the same as any other pair of running shoes, but typically are more ridged to provide more support, are water proof, and have larger treads on the bottom. If you bought them at a running store and got ones with the right amount of arch support for your feet type and they are comfortable then they should work just fine for track. The downside is that they may get hot if they are less breathable due to being water proof and they will be heavier. I would recommend testing them on a track and running the curves at different speeds to make sure they are comfortable for that, because sometimes trail shoes can be uncomfortable going fast around the tight turns on a track, because they are more ridged. I wouldn't really recommend buying trail running shoes for track, but since you already have them there really is no reason why you couldn't wear them for track as long as they are comfortable and are the right type for your feet.

What are some cheap but good running shoes?

Q. Under $70

Answer
Information about some running shoes and spikes for hardcore runners:
To improve on your endurance, you need to practice running distances about twice as far as your event.

Key for running shoes -

The better the shock absorption is the better the shoe is. Whenever possible, it is best to try them on before a purchase.

An ideal shoe will fit your foot like a slipper. Your running shoes are the key to staying injury free. Knowing how to use them will enhance your speed. You can wear any type of shoe you want for training in. But you should have a second pair of shoes just for racing in.

Oversize Trainers To Improve Your Speed -
The best type of trainer to wear is one that is either a half or full size too large for your feet. Buy a high quality cushion inset sole and place it in the shoe. This gives your feet added shock absorption protection. This could be a big help against Shine Splints. If one foot is longer than the other, buy the trainers based on the longest foot.
Except for hurdlers practicing their hurdle form, use this shoe for all of your running practices, including high speed sections. When you change shoes for races, you will find that your feet feel light and that your race time results are constantly on the speedy end of your speed range.

Shoes For Racing In:
A racing shoe (flats or spikes) that properly fits your foot and used for race purpose only, will enhance your speed. These shoes are normally very light but do not support your feet like trainers. You can make many brands of racing shoes feel very comfortable for use without soaks by placing a thin, soft cushion, flat insole in it. Replace the insoles when they begin to show signs of wear or when they are flat in your impact area. Insoles and arch supports can be bought in some grocery stores. If you use arch supports, place it in your racing shoe too. If one foot is longer than the other, buy this pair of shoes based on the shortest foot. However, if the toes on the longer foot are knuckling up in the shoe, then the shoes are too short - get a longer pair.

Hurdler shoe issue:
Shoes play a huge part of helping a hurdler be fast, especially in the short distance hurdles. This is not practical, but hurdlers need three pairs of track shoes. They need their proper foot fitting racing spikes, they need a pair of proper fitting running shoes for hurdle work practices only and, they need their oversize comfortable running shoes with extra cushion protection for all other running activities.

Wearing Spikes To Train In:
There are times when using spikes in a training section is very important to the athlete. Sprinters, hurdlers, pole vaulters, javelin throwers; long, triple and, high jumpers should wear their spikes when trying to calibrate their steps and starting block position. Once the measurements have been established with your spikes on, take them off and put on your trainers. Use your trainers to find the location of your established starting points. The order of finding your points should be with spikes first and then with trainers, never the other way around. This is because trainers vary too much in size, shape and, length for the same size foot - change your trainers and you change the dimension of your foot. For this group of people, knowing how to find your precise starting points with your racing shoes on, assures you a consistent range of high end results for your discipline.

I've been calling Autorepair shops and I can't seem to get clear answers from any of them?

damron

Based on my conversations with them can someone give me some answers to these questions?
Do cars have brake shoes and / or pads? What do Rear Pads, Rear Rotors and Clean & Lube Calipers cost? Should you pay for Inspection if they are going to do the work?
Forgot to put I have a 99 infinty g20
sorry forgot to put car is 99 infinity g20

Answer
Pads for your vehicle start at around $11 per axle and can go up to $100 per axle. I prefer using organic brake pads instead of semi-metallic or ceramic because they will not chew up the rotors. Yes, a set of organic brake pads might need to be replaced every 30-60K, but all you have to do is slip in a new set of pads. With semi-metallics and ceramics they produce a lot of heat and can actually crack/warp the rotors. They may last a lot longer than organic, but most likely you will have to replace the rotors again...which isn't a big deal, it's just an extra expense.

I am a big fan of the Wagner ThermoQuiet Organic Brake Pads. For your vehicle, the fronts would cost $32.79 and the rear would cost $30.79 (@ RockAuto.com). The front part number is: QC430 and the rear part number is: PD540A

Most of the time, Wagner has rebates where you can get up to $15 off per axle.

Rotors can run anywhere from $10-85 per rotor (@ RockAuto.com). You wouldn't really have to replace these unless they are grooved, extremely rusty or your car wobbles when you slow to a stop. Unlike what some people will tell you, you do not need drilled and/or slotted rotors. They simply are not worth the money and under normal driving circumstances they will provide absolutely no improvement over stock. My favorite kinds are Centric Premium and Raybestos PG Plus/Advanced Technology.

The Centric Premium for your vehicle are $40.79 per rotor for the front and $23.79 per rotor for the rear. The front part number is: 12042055 and the rear part number is: 12042051

The Raybestos PG Plus/Advanced Technology for your vehicle are $46.79 per rotor for the front and $38.79 for the rear. The front part number is: 96363 and the rear part number is: 96408

Also, by looking up your vehicle information you do have 4-wheel disc brakes that include 1 rotor per wheel, 2 brake pads per wheel and 1 caliper per wheel.

If you are located in the Chicago/Milwaukee area, I would be more than happy to inspect your brakes, walk you through everything and assist you in performing a brake job.

4-wheel disc: Calipers, pads & rotors
Some vehicles have 4-wheel disc brakes which includes 1 caliper per wheel, 1 rotor per wheel and 2 sets of pads per wheel. To replace all of these parts (minus the calipers because you shouldn't have to replace them) would cost roughly $25-60 per axle for pads and $35-100 per wheel for rotors. Most shops can complete this work in a few hours, but will probably cost you a few hundred dollars. If you do some research and have someone who knows how to do brakes help you, I would think you could complete the job in about a day (assuming everything goes well) and you can save yourself some big money.

Disc/Drum: Calipers, pads, drums, shoes
Other vehicles have disc brakes in the front and drums in the rear. Rotors and drums can be resurfaced, but for a few more bucks its better to get new ones. Shoes and pads are about the same in cost. Some mechanics will tell you that drum brakes are easier to replace, but I haven't really noticed a difference.

Drum: Drums, shoes
And finally, other vehicles have all drum brakes. Mostly this is seen on large trucks and older vehicles.

For accurate pricing, check out RockAuto.com.

I would think that an inspection would be included if you decide to have them repair your brakes.

Cleaning and lubing calipers is not a big deal at all! It's very easy to do. Should take a decent mechanic less than an hour to complete.

Why do some public highways have tolls on them?

Q. Doesn't that mean the tax payers are charged twice to use the roads?

Answer
Not only are they charged twice but they add immensely to the pollution from an automobile. An automobile will only pollute about 10% of what it does when it is running under load with the RPM over 1500. Under !500 RPM it becomes a monster polluter. So when you see these toll booths with backed up cars you can see all the polluting that is going on. Plus the extra gas for acceleration. Plus the brake shoes spewing dust particles in the air. Those toll bridges and roads usually are a great source of income for the governments and they don't like give it up. How come there is no toll for the Eisenhower Tunnel in Colorado bypassing Loveland pass but the Holland tunnel is still collecting after all these years?
So in reality we not only pay for it twice but many many times over. To get across the Washington Bridge costs $10 now. How many cars a day go across that in the toll direction? If 100,000 a day go across it that is 1 million a day. It cost $60 million dollars to build it originally. That is only two months worth.
So how much of that $10 toll goes into line the pockets of the politicians and union thugs. I know many other bridges that were built good enough that they don't need that much 'maintenance'.
So you see it is not only a method of taxation it causes pollution.

Best shoes for standing all day?

Q. I am a dog groomer and work in a shop that has concrete floors, while I mostly stand on special anti-fatigue rubber mats, my feet kill by the end of the day.

I now where croc clogs as they are easy to hose down if I accidentally step in dog pee or poop, but they are not very good in the arch support department.

I don't want leather shoes as they will get ruined when they get wet.
Has anyone tried those walking shoes by sketchers ?

P.s don't want dorky old women looking shoes as I like to keep it a bit funky.

Answer
A lot of Nike women's running shoes offer good support and are stylish. They come in a lot of bright pretty colors and designs

women's flat casual shoes... are they bad for your feet?

Petal

im deliberately asking this question in the Running section of yahoo answers because im assuming you guys are better suited at answering this question since it involves feet! :)

Are flat shoes bad for your feet? I always wear flat shoes because theyre comfortable and I do a lot of walking.
Ive noticed that sometimes my calf muscles start hurting but usually this happens if im walking uphill or something like that... but usually im okay.
Has anyone else also experienced this aswell? If im going out to do normal stuff then i never wear heels because i think its pointless (theyre impractical because you can trip up on something). Also, apparently flat shoes are meant to be bad for your feet because youre supposed to have SOME kind of support for your arch, but most flats have nothing! For example, mine have no support or no shaped insole... its flat. Will this cause problems for me later on in life?
What are your thoughts on flat shoes? Are they just as bad as heels???

Answer
YES. Flat shoes do not provide any cushioning for your feet and doing a lot of walking in them are bad for you.

They're OK occasionally, and as cute as they are, I suggest getting a pair of actual shoes (like running shoes) if you want to help your leg and feet.

* Fat shoes can "strain the achilles tendon that runs from the back of the heel, and also the calf muscles in the back of the leg". Pain can develop after as little as two weeks.

* With NO shock absorbency and little heel support, there is the added risk of developing a painful heel condition called plantar fasciitis if you wear them constantly

So, basically, switch it up once in awhile. =)

If you still choose to wear flats everyday. Then...

* Calf stretches before, during and after long periods of flattie-wear can help to keep muscles loose and less vulnerable to strain

* Wear "real" shoes if you're going to be doing a lot of walking

you'd be a 7.0 in girl's, or probably a 7.5 but that isn't listed so you could try them and return them. also the shoe may run small or big so it could vary the size... hope i helped!
