Will I ever be able to bench 315 lbs?

Matt

I have been lifting on and off for 4 years and my current one rep max is 195 lbs. I'm 5 ft. 7 in. tall, and currently weigh 150 lbs., but the average person of my build weighs about 135. I have a small build. My shirt size is S, my hand size is S, my wrist size is S.

I'm not looking to play football. I just figured that people that follow the sport or currently participate in it would have an idea.

Answer
Yes if you put in THE WORK! Getting up 3 plates on each side once isn't that hard to accomplish and benching is actually easier for people with small arms & small frames. Longer arms mean greater distance to lift and small framed people tend to get barrell chested which shrinks the lift even more.

There is a man named Leeland McElory that played in the NFL for several years and as a 5 foot nothing 175 lb. RB he was able to bench over 400 lbs. & squated 600! There are players like him all over the country so get to work!

Sitting Cow- Lol I hate to be the first one breaking this news to you, but playerâs height & weight are generally fudged and sold by SID's as fact. This is why players are measured (With Shoes Off)/weighed at the Combine. 5â11 ha, man thatâs almost worse than all the articles listing Charles Barkley as 6â6.

Will this guy get that weight up at 150 lbs, of course not! Hereâs another secret for you little buddy, if he stays in the gym and eats properly he wouldnât be 150 after 12 months! By the time heâs able to 1 rep MAX 315 he would probably be 25 pounds heavier.

Take any NFL RB in the last 20 years under 5â11 between 175-200 pounds and I guarantee that you will not find one that canât put up 315 once. Whether itâs Napoleon Kaufman, Warrick Dunn or Darren Sproals, you canât play that position being physically weak and ONLY PUTTING UP 315 ONCE QUALIFIES AS PHYSICALLY WEAK!

Come On Man Think A Little Before You Try & Devalue Other Peoples Comments!

@Bad Ass
1. What about the other references Little Buddy?

2. Practice Reading Comprehension! At no point did I say he would âMaxâ that weight in 12 months!
If he puts in the WORK the guy will not be 150 in 12 months. Would you disagree with that?
By the time he is able to Max 315 he would be 25 pounds heavier (at least). Where do I refer to a time table in that sentence?

3. I chose NFL caliber RBâs as reference because of the overall strength requirement to play the position and numerous examples of players within the last 20 years who where/are 5â11â & below + range in weight from 175-200 pounds.

Lower body strength is the core of athletic competition, but to say upper body strength âpretty musclesâ does little to help a RB is just dumb. Aside from the technique involved with running with the ball and having the strength to prevent people from ripping the ball away from a back, you do realize they have to pass protect right?

You do realize there are major physical differences between University of Dayton, University of Cincinnati and Ohio St. University players right? Why on earth would you talk about D1 RBâs as if they are all in the same boat? My comments had 0 to do with college ball, but come on Little Buddy that 5â9 scat back who canât get up 300 lbs isnât going to get 25 carries a game at Ohio St like he would at Dayton.

4. I hate to break this to you Little Buddy, the only people that are impressed about maxing 3 plates are those that never spent time in a weight room or do nothing but gawk at men working instead of hitting it hard themselves. Given your comment and pencil neck photo I doubt you have ever come close putting up that weight, so I can understand why you think 315 is a big number Little Buddy!

Should I stay with him? *10 pts*?

We've been dating for 3.5 months; he's grown very attached and clingy whereas I've become quite distant and detached. Summer's just started and he tells me he misses me throughout the day and will do anything he can to see me. He know's it's overwhelming me and promises he'll stop telling me this all the time. On the last day of school he cried since he graduated high school and won't be able to see me everyday anymore. He tells me I mean the world to him and that he never wants to leave me, but I never know how to reply bc I just don't feel the same.

The first few months were fantastic, but recently my feelings are just not as strong as before and I'm really thinking about breaking up with him. It seems like the best option, since my grades in school are slipping because of the relationship, and it's put some stress on my relationship with my family (who don't like him bc he's not exactly the smartest guy around).

But then I think about all our memories and all he's done for me and think "I can't". I start to get emotional thinking about it since if I do break up with him, I won't have anyone texting me good morning or to have late night conversations with. I won't have a hand to hold and no one to kiss and hug. When we're together I really enjoy holding his hand, talking to him, kissing him and I'm comfortable, but I just feel we don't fit very well. Our goals in life are so different, since I want to experience things and see what's out there, whereas he is fully devoted to me and I'm all he cares about. I'm afraid if I leave him, he'll be devastated and do something really dramatic. I'm also worried, I'll never find someone who loves me as much as he does and disregards my flaws if I leave.

I'm so confused; I have absolutely no idea what to do..
Thanks for any advice.

Answer
Hey sweety,

Boy have I been in your shoes.

First thing's first, you really answered your own question. Your grades are slipping, you're stressed out and your family is feeling it too, your willing to say that your not pleased with his intelligence, and most of all, you have to question whether or not to leave.

Hun, it's not him that you want. It's a relationship. You like the way he makes you feel like you're important. But that is all you seem to feel. You don't love him, and you don't want to be with him, you just want to be with somebody. Now, just so you know, that's not all a bad thing, but it's not that great either. Trust me, if you want that feeling of someone that is interested, look for a pen-pal. You never know right.... Just, don't into meeting people online. No not every one is bad. But not everyone is good either.

Now, you are not even done with high school. That means that you have only been around the guys in your hometown. Wait till you go to college or start working, you would be surprised what men are out there. I even have men, some really cute, hitting on me at work. And I'm a 300 lb woman. Just imagine the men that you can have in just a year or two. It really is worth the wait.

Any way hun, you have passed the honeymoon phase and this is where you start to witness the real relationship. Think of it this way, he is out of school, so you don't have to run into him in the halls everyday, and you don't live together so there is no fighting over who gets what.

It will probably be about 3 months before you get over him, but I swear, this will be the easiest break up you have.

You know what to do, you know what is best for you, don't be scared to do what you want. It's you that matters.

P.S. if it really is to hard. Suggest a two week break. See how you feel. If it's right, you will get back with him. But if you like the feeling of being without him. You know what to do.

Q. I started running 2 miles almost every day like 4 weeks ago. Up until last week everything was okay but now I can barely run and I have to job because when I extend my leg and it touches the ground my knee has this sharp pain like it can't extend :( It's on the inside of my legs and I've gone to the trainer who has no idea what it could be... any insight would be great.

Oh and my shoes are Nike Free Training
JOG* not job hehe

Answer
Sounds like you have a case of Runner's Knee (or patellofemoral pain syndrome PFPS). This is a very common overuse injury that many beginners suffer from. It occurs when a mistracking kneecap (patella) irritates the femoral groove in which it rests on the thighbone (femur). Also, worn cartilage in the knee joint reduces shock absorption, high-arched feet provide less cushioning, and flat feet or knees that turn in or out excessively can pull the patella sideways. There are also muscular causes. Tight hamstring and calf muscles put pressure on the knee, and weak quadriceps muscles can cause the patella to track out of alignment. Just the repetitive force of a normal running stride alone can be enough to provoke an attack.

PFPS can affect one or both knees. It strikes mostly younger, recreational runners and twice as many women as men, according to the British Journal of Sports Medicine. (Women tend to have wider hips, resulting in a greater angling of the thighbone to the knee, which puts the kneecap under more stress.)

Symptoms include tenderness behind or around the patella, usually toward its center. You may feel pain toward the back of the knee, a sense of cracking or that the knee's giving out. Steps, hills, and uneven terrain can aggravate PFPS.

To prevent PFPS, run on softer surfaces, keep mileage increases less than 10 percent per week, and gradually increase hill work in your program. Visit a specialty running shop to make sure you're wearing the proper shoes for your foot type and gait. Also, strengthening your quadriceps will improve patellar tracking, and stretching your hamstrings and calves will prevent overpronation. (Try the exercises below from Pribut.)

At the first sign of pain, cut back your mileage. The sooner you lessen the knee's workload, the faster healing begins, says Pribut. Avoid knee-bending activities, canted surfaces, and downward stairs and slopes until the pain subsides. As you rebuild mileage, use a smaller stride on hills. Consider orthotics if new shoes don't fix the problem. "If your feet have good form, your knees will follow," says Pribut. See a doctor if the pain persists, to rule out another condition.

Why are so many women in denial about wearing bras like they are about size does matter?

OK I am going to spend 5 points to see if I hear the same old BS about bras or actually hear something new. The usual given reason why women wear them are just asinine: the keep you from getting a backache, prevent stretch marks about the breast, keep them from bouncing around etc. Stretch marks, if women were really worried about that 60% would not be walking about with that Peterbuilt size gut of a belly. Same with backaches. I would think carrying a gut the size of a 3yr old would put more strain on the back. Keep them from boucing around? While driving? At the copy machine? Shoe shopping? If that was the case, guess I best not use the printer without wearing a jock. Keep them from sagging? Some women 34AA, A, or B who pass the "pencil test" with flying colors do not need to worry about sagging. Even many Cs. Just admit it. You been indoctrinated to believe is any nipple imprint is seen it is scandelous or trampy. And THAT is the real reason of the bra for 60% of women.

Answer
LOL, obviously you are not a woman. Believe what you want, but what you heard is true and is not BS. I wear a bra because it is more comfortable holding the girls in place rather than having them flapping all over the place. Plenty of times I think of the Amazonian women who would chop off thier right breast so that it wont get in the way of thier archery, and I sympathize deeply. Don't get me wrong, I like what I have but sometimes I wish they wern't there. They make running and golfing that much harder, and a bra is the best known way to hold and tame them.
Let me ask you this - why do you men wear underpants? Wouldn't you feel more comfortable with your thing flapping around? I don't think so. There is a time for flapping, and a time for taming.

What do people in Cuba eat and how do they dress?

melons

I'm doing a research project on Cuba for school. I was wondering what kind of food do they normally eat and what kind of clothes do they wear, such as the material and brand etc. Also how much does food and clothes cost?

Answer
It depends on where you live in cuba and how money you have. If you want the average stuff let's say the staple food is white rice, black beans, yucca root with mojo (alioli made of oil, garlic and sour orange), pork steak or roast, fried plantains and some salad with oil, vinegar, salt & pepper dressing, we don't eat the same food everyday and some people eat according to their preferences and/or means, same goes for dressing. During daytime and for everyday errands or work (unless you are required to wear a specific attire or uniform) the regular everyday cuban man (middle class aprox 21-39 yrs old) dresses in jeans or shorts, runnig shoes, loafers or sandals and a t-shirt or tank top and women (same est.) dress in tight lowcut jeans, shorts or stretch gym-like pants and a revealing tank top with sandals running shoes or slides, both men and women wear a lot of jewerly false or real according to their means and taste. Pricewise I'll give you the cheapest and the most expensive:
Panamericana (cheapest stores in US dollars)
jeans---- about 16.00
tanks---- " " 6.00
* shoes for the average cuban range between 10 and 65
if purchased in dollar stores. Many people prefer artisan made shoes which are cheaper and have good craftmanship, those are sold at the flemarket like places some in cuban pesos and some in us dollars or CUC's (dollar equivalent currency)

Most expensive universo stores (which hold brands like guess, MNG, Ted Lapidus, GIORGIO and Gas Jeans:
Jeans ------ 60-100
tanks--------13-45
shoes are usually the same but some MNG shoes can go all the way up to 120 (and yes you do see quite some in the streets specially at night)

Which shoe is actually the best for walking or working out?

I want to get a good pair of shoes for walking and working out. I've been looking at the ones that supposedly tone your butt and the ones called shape ups that also are said to help tone muscle while working out. Is this even possible or is it just a fad? And if they are just a fad, what is a good shoe to get for such exercise?

Answer
.I have a pair of Sketchers Shape Ups. They are very comfortable, but I don't wear them enough to notice any possilbe butt toning. My 73 yr old mother with a bad back got a pair also (she still works part time) and loves them for when she's got to do much standing.

As for the best shoes, look up reviews. Seriously. Every time I need to buy a new pair of running shoes, I look up reviews online to see what the experts and regular runners like best. For running (for women) various styles of asics, mizuno, and saucony often get high marks. I've enjoyed all pairs of each of those brands, that I've ever had.

Reebok has a toning shoe also, but again I don't know how well it works (per the advertisement). Check reviews and see if you can find info. It's possible those types of shoes do work to some extent because they are changing your balance and weight distribution. I wouldn't expect "buns of steel" from them though...but if they are comfy to wear, why not try' em?

What would be good shoes for running in with fallen arches?

what is a good running shoe for my 8 year old? and does it really matter, just as long it's a running shoe?

Answer
You should take her to a reputable running store, and ask them which shoes will be best. If the store you go to won't, or can't, help you, then go to another until you find a good one that will help you.

Young growing bones need a good shoe, and just listening to someone over the internet isn't going to provide you with a shoe that fits correctly, and gives the support that her feet needs. You need an expert to see how the shoe fits, and make sure that the shoes will give her feet support, and room to grow.

There are many different types of running shoe, and there are many different types of feet and running style. You need to have a pair that will suit you, and this is especially important for children.

What to pack for a trip to Spain in March?

Kaitlyn

I'm going on a class trip to Spain in March 2013. We will be all over the country, including Barcelona, Valencia, Granada, Costa del Sol, Seville, Cordoba, Madrid, and then to Morocco. I understand that the weather in Spain can be unpredictable. I don't want to dress too touristy either... What kind of clothes should I pack? Also, what are some things that could come in handy that I might need while I am there? Thanks! :)
I'm an 18 year old girl from Ohio, if that helps... And I am in Spanish IV at my High School, and I plan to major in Spanish, so communicating with the locals is certainly not my worry. I just really don't want to pack a ton, because I don't want to lug it around the country.

Answer
I've been to Spain in March and I would definitely pack "spring" clothes: jacket, sweaters, long-sleeve shirts, and trousers. Things that you can layer is always a good bet. Comfortable shoes are a must if you're traveling anywhere I think, especially if you're using public transportation because not everything will have a train/bus station close by.
Because you're traveling to so many places, I would also recommend not packing too much, just so you don't have to lug it around with you and pack and unpack so much at each destination.
I would avoid bringing any electronics other than a computer, mostly because they're heavy and if you don't have an electric adapter for some of them, they won't work. Some devices, like most computers, have built in adapters. The way to find out if it does is to look at the writing on the plug or device. If it says "Input: 100-240v" you're fine and all you need is the European plug (which has two circular prongs).
As for not looking like a tourist, don't worry, you will! In general, Spaniards like to look nice--nice shoes, clothes that are clean, hole-free, ironed, with a good fit. Most women have on makeup and most men have gelled hair (especially if you're "going out"). I don't know where you're from, age, or gender, but my standard is jeans, a basic shirt, and non-sneaker shoes (nothing screams "tourist!" more than sneakers/trainers. In general, they only wear sneakers if they're running or at the gym). I don't exactly "blend in" but I certainly don't stand out.
Also, if you know Spanish, that will make you less of a tourist, even if your Spanish is, for example, Mexican Spanish (yes, there's a HUGE difference, but still they'll appreciate it). Keep in mind that in Barcelona and other parts of Catalonia, they prefer to speak Catalan instead, though most people do still understand Castellano.
Of the places you mentioned, I've only been to Barcelona, Madrid, and Sevilla and the latter was definitely my favorite. Do be prepared to get lost in Sevilla! It's almost inevitable but still a great city. Where ever you are, best go in pairs or groups of three and keep personal equipment close at hand (cameras, phones, etc). I've never felt uneasy in Spain, but it doesn't hurt to be cautious.
Take a camera and have fun!

After that, distances will shape your mindset on improving your speed. You have to find suitable techniques, to your style of running to achieve faster running times.

Running Technique Keys:

Faster Running in General:
Running faster requires - either, a higher out put of leg rotation or running on your toes or both. Pumping your elbows to the back harder and faster is the key to getting a higher leg rotation. However, XC runners should stay away from being too high on their toes - risk of twisting an ankle is too great.

A racing shoe that properly fits your foot and used for race purpose only, will enhance your speed. Placing a thin insole in your racing shoe makes your racing shoe feel very comfortable for running in without soaks. Replace the insoles when they begin to show signs of wear or when they are flat in your impact area. They can be bought in some grocery stores.

Faster 100m -
requires 100% application of arms and legs at a maximum output rate.

Faster 200m (curve) -
requires special lean techniques for running the curve at top speed. The straight lean for wide curves and the "T" Torque for tight curves are the dormant lean styles. Application of the 100m running technique is used for the straight.

Faster 400m -
requires strategy, stamina, cursing power and a burst of closing kick energy. Having enough energy to close strong is the key.

Faster Speed For Races Greater than 400m -
requires strategy, higher leg rotation endurance, cursing power, body ventilation and relaxation skills, an on-and-off valve for generating power with your arms and, a final burst of closing kick energy. Having enough energy to close strong is the key. (Your technique is knowing when to use these essentials.)

Faster Hurdles:

Requirement:
One needs to have an ability to go air born in a balanced manner and then return to earth by hitting the ground running.

The secrete to hurdlers' speed is in; the placement of their starting blocks, the rhythm in their running between hurdles, the use of their arms, the placement of their lead leg after clearing the hurdle and, the methods needed to close out the last four hurdles.

The hurdle heights for high schools are:
American Girls - 30 inches and 33 inches
American Boys - 36 inches and 39 inches

The hurdle heights for college and open divisions are:
American Women - 30 inches and 33 inches
American Men - 36 inches and 42 inches

Faster Race Walking:

Requires:
Sustained pressure on the hip joints. One must have an ability to keep one foot on the ground at all times while walking forward after locking the knee joint. Power swings with the elbow in conjunction with accentuated hip swivel provides the power behind speed walking.

How do I rehab ITBS? lateral tendon pain from running.?

El Superbe

I've been running for a while and never really had any issues. Recently I have been having excruciating pain in the lateral tendon in my knee. I looked online and it appears to be ITBS. Im just wondering if anybody has any experience with this or knows a good way to strengthen my knee so it doesn't hurt.

Answer
The illiotibial band isn't a tendon. It is a band of fascia running from the hip to the tibia. As you know, when it hurts, it sure feels like an injured tendon lateral to the knee!

When your leg is straight, the ITB is in front of a lateral epicondyle on the femur, just above the knee. When you flex your knee, the ITB is in back of the femoral epicondyle. As you run, flexing and extending at the knee joint, the ITB repeatedly passes over the epidondyle. When you have ITBS, you feel this as a sharp pain synchronized with flexing and extending the knee.

When you have ITBS, it is a good idea to stretch the ITB at least 10 minutes a day. To stretch the left ITB do this: Stand, and put your weight on your left leg. Cross your right leg over and in front of the left. Put your right hand on the right side of the hip, and push the hip to the left while bending to the right. To stretch the right ITB, do the same but exchange 'right' and 'left' in the instructions. To try another stretch, sit, and try to pull your knee into the opposite arm pit.

When running, avoid cambered surfaces. Most roads are cambered so rain water runs off to the side, and running on a cambered surface aggravates the ITB on the side with the lower foot. Because we run facing traffic, Americans tend to run on the left side of the road, and tend to get ITB in the left knee. Brits tend to run on the right side of the road, and get ITB in the right knee.

Running on hard surfaces can aggravate ITBS, so you should prefer to run on soft surfaces If you run on paved surfaces, bike trails and sidewalks usually have less camber than roads. If you do run on a cambered surface, run on the side so your foot on the side with the injured knee is higher -- closer to the high point of the surface. Just to be clear, the angle of the feet contributes to the problem, not necessarily the difference in height.

Also, avoid running downhill, as this will aggravate ITBS.

Check your shoes. They may be too hard for your bio-mechanics. Bring your shoes to a store specializing in running. Discuss the injury with someone there, and have them look at the wear patterns on your shoes.

It may help to have orthoses (orthotics) in your running shoes as well as your work and street shoes. It may help to consult an orthopedic technician for this.

What should I bring for hiking? Would it be odd to bring a regular school backpack instead of a fullbackpack?

Ryan

9 miles!!!!!!!!!
9 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer
Full backpack for nine miles?
???
Nine miles is a walk home at night after I've missed the last bus.
As a hike it's a child's distance, for 12 year olds.
It's a Saturday morning stroll round the glen and over the bridge and come back via the Black Hill.
It's a three hour walk, or two and bit if you're going at standard Roman marching speed of four miles an hour and a ten minute break every hour.
It's not worth getting a special backpack for unless you're going to be doing a lot of ...err,proper hiking.
Best thing to worry about is your feet.
Get some decent cotton socks on, then the hiking socks over them, then the boots or trail shoes, and get them comfortable by going walking in them.
And running a bit too. It helps to get them supple and tuned in to your own feet.
I go mountain running in trail shoes...more like low-cut boots really. Nine miles is a short one.
Then think about what goes in the pack. The less the better.
Last thing is what goes on your face. It's big. It's got a mile between the two ends.
It's smiles.
Have a good short walk to wherever you're going. It won't last long.
Enjoy it while you can.
Here's a longer one....in one go, with some short breaks to check in at check points round the course and eat things and stuff.
85 miles and look who does it....normal people, not big professional hikers....hundreds of them. They train for it by going walking but they're just ordinary people.

My boyfriend dresses terribly and I am not attracted anymore?

I have been dating a wonderful man for almost 2 years. I love everything about him but something is getting in the way. I am 36 and still cute ,he is 42 and in great shape. I hate the way he dresses most of the time. He is stuck in the 80's, He wears Bill Cosby sweaters and stonewashed jeans.Even owns a leather Bugs Bunny jacket!! It makes me want to run and hide. It is embarassing. He has other clothes from Express and even Target that are contemporary and what people wear today. I don't know what to do. It is a hard thing to bring up because do not want to be mean to him, but he never gets my hint. Even when we go shopping together or I suggest cleaning closets. I want to be with him, but this is seriously effecting how attracted to him I am. I sometimes find myself in "friend mode". Please share.. and no offense, but no kids please. I am being serious about this. I would like to hear from those in adult aged relationships. I don't want to break up, but this is driving me away.
Thanks for the answers, there are many that have caused me to think. It is a good relationship...but not too much to ask for him to be a little current. As for him expressing personal style- he has no concept of that. He is functional. He is a guy: he needs to wear pants and a shirt, so he wears pants and a shirt. That's all there is to it. No other thought. I know I sounded snobbish and materialistic, but it is not like that. I have been given a lot to think about and I appreciate all the honest answers. Thanks, everyone. I will take it all to heart, really. It helps to hear from real people on this. Happy Thanksgiving.

Answer
I am 39, my wife is 30. She is young and cute (actress/model) I am older and average. Sounds similar. The hardest thing for me when it came to fashion was listening to her. I, too, was stuck in the 80's (not quite as bad, but still there) when it came to jeans, tshirts, and shoes. She wore me down but did let me know she loved me. She pointed out that most women know what looks good and that fashion changes (where I was not changing). The newer fashions were harder to accept for me (too macho I guess). however, she would point out things she liked and start changing my wardrobe one outfit at a time. Mostly though, she would point out how fashion changes. Just because you love him does not mean you should not rag on his rags. It is not a personal attack, just advice and preferances. He should not take it personally. let him know what you think about how he dresses ... if he does not relent, he has issues. Most men stick with what is comfortable to them, you have to make him comfortable with something new. I have gotten to the point that I can dress myself (LOL!) but I still run things by the wife from haircuts, to clothing combinations.
Get a few GQ and contenmporary magazines and start showing him how fashion is changing. I had a hard time getting into the loose clothing and untucked shirts and such, but now that I am comfortable with change, I have no issues with it.
The big thing is getting him comfortable with change ... it's likely not about his clothing but going with what is comfortable and "safe" for him. Haveing to think about fashion is threatening to many men.
Force him into an outfit you like ... then REALLY let him know you like it ... much like pavlovs dogs, he will come around through conditioning. thats my two cents :)

Do ladies really care about how well a guy dresses?

Ace

Just a little curious since I've been told I have exceptionally good taste when it comes to the fashion department, amongst other things. Designers I frequently wear are Ralph Lauren(almost exlusively), Banana Republic, Hugo Boss, etc. I'm into the really polished GQ look, ie. dress shirts with almost everything, ties just because, high end dress shoes with almost anything, high end fragrences to always smell nice, etc. So do ladies really care about how a guy looks, even if he treats you well and is always there for you. Now granted I'm a little high maintence in the fashion dept., but I always want to look my best and make an impression...one ever knows who they might see or run into :)

Answer
Well to me I would say yes. I mean, even if the gu loves you but he looks like a slob, you will always be embarrassed. Besides it gives a first impression. I think guys should be more concerned with fashion then girls are because they actually have to (usually) ask the girl out. So even if the guy is nice but has a weird outfit with holes and wrinkles then he isn't as appealing. anyway, you know me and I'm big in fashion so if the guy doesn't have taste he doesn't have a date. Hope I helped!

Is there a deep symmetry principle at work in US politics?

top women running shoes 2012

top women running shoes 2012 image

Hillary Clinton was the shoe in candidate -- "inevitable" that's what they said.

Suddenly at the last possible moment arises Obama, out of nowhere, the buffoon candidate, who she didn't even bother to run against in the primaries, thinking him a nullity, thinking him so obviously unqualified that even the most un-informed voter would see him as utterly unqualfied and vote for her instead.

Didn't happen.

He won, she lost.

Now for the symmetry, mathematically this is such perfect symmetry it looks like what we woodworkers call a butterfly pattern.

Comes now Pawlenty, or maybe Jindal, or maybe Romney to be the GOP candidate in 2012. And they are "inevitable" clearly the right person to represent to GOP against Obama.

And suddenly, out of nowhere comes Sarah Palin, the buffoon candidate, clearly a ditsy airhead even dumber than was shown on SNL.

But, all the GOP hopefuls go down, and Sarah Palin is the choice of the primary voters.

So far, I hope you see the perfect butterfly symmetry here. I am a mathematician, but one need not be a mathematician to see this.

There are 40 million people in the "We Want to Be Trailer Trash" movement in USA. They are the militant trailer trash on the march. They are very proud, extremely cohesive, every single one has their NASCAR jacket with the Dale Jr. patch. All the men have ducks tail hairdos. The women call themselves "red neck women". They love the stars and bars to irritate to people driving behind them.

These are radical militant as*h**es on the march, and there are 40 million of them, and they are voting for Sarah Palin -- one of their own.

So, here's what true:

2012 is plainly a GOP opportunity. Obama has messed up bigtime. He's a Marxist. People know it now. They don't want a Marxist President.

But because of the principle of symmetry the GOP is doomed to have a clowny bozo airhead take over the top of their ticket in 2012, who Obama with all his many deficiencies will have no trouble beating like a rug.

You get right -- this is something that only mathematicians can see -- we Mandelbrot types -- we fractal geometers. We can see it, but it's invisible to mankind, until the news report the amazing (again) facts.

Answer
Politics is not mathematics. It has no logic, it is chaos based on emotions and great marketing. The better marketer always wins and Obama had the best marketing campaign. Fractals have logic & purpose which can be seen throughout nature but politics is not natural.

Why are some Clinton backers voting McCain?

LuvMyPup

i am a huge supporter of Hillary, let me just say that first. i want nothing more than her as my president.

however, all this time we have been saying that we choose hillary becuz we think she is better than obama. she has more experience, she knows all of the issues. you can ask her anything on the spot, and the women has a clear and precise answer. we have been saying all along that obama doesnt have the knowledge or the experience like Hillary does.

so some backers are voting mccain so that she can run again 2012. mccain is a 1 term prez giving her a huge advantage in 2012.

well, if we were so confident that Obama was going to suck, then why would you put your democrat values aside and vote mccain? wouldnt hillary have the same chances of winning in 2012 going up against obama?

unless you think he might do a good job and you are worried?

i just dont get it.........

i am confident that no matter who Hillary goes up against in 4 years, she is a shoe-in.
Hoping For Change~ how the heck did you get racist outa my question. im guessing you cant read between the lines so i'll dumb it down for you- i am a former Hillary supporter, voting for Obama. i am trying to figure out why more clinton supporters arent doing the same.

Answer
I've felt since the beginning that Bill and Hillary are moving behind the scenes to fulfill their own agenda...I'm not kidding either

1) Bill doesn't like Obama, everyone knows it
2) If Obama loses, Hillary can run in 2012, McCain has already said that he will only serve one term
3) Hillary's closest friends and top campaign supporters have said publicly that they are voting for McCain, among them Lynn Forester de Rothschild, John Coale and Hillary's own brother
4) Bill has spoken positively about Palin AND McCain, yet negatively about Obama
5) Biden is a CLOSE friend of Hillary's...And we all know what he's been saying...
6) Hillary backing out of the Anti-Iran rally made Obama look bad, and caused the rally organizers to UNinvite ALL "political personalities"...That didn't sit well with the Jewish community

Can an underpronator make motion control running shoes work for her?

I accidentally bought motion control shoes instead of cushioning ones. Is there any way to wear Them and make them work for me, or are they destined for Goodwill?

Answer
all depends on the amount of pronation support, i know many people who have quite high arches who run in shoes designed for pronators simply because they like the supportive feeling underneath their feet however it could have a negative effect by making you over supernate which could screw up and change your entire running style and gait i would recommend returning them if you can and maybe going for an asics gel nimbus or a mizuno wave creation both are highly popular where i work.

can i return sports authoirty running shoes which i bought and ran for 2 days?

Im going to Europe late june-early july and don't want to look too much like the clueless tourist that I am, so nothing major, just the basics, such as "don't wear athletic shorts"
specific countries are france, italy, austria, and switzerland, and any specifics on cargo shorts and stripes on shirts?
and were planning on doing lots of walking, so good walking shoe recommendations as well are much appreciated

Answer
Specific style tips depend on what country you're in, but in general wear:
-neutrals like biege, white, brown, black, tan
-no running shoes.
-no sports team ball caps or T shirts like Miami Heat or the Green Bay Packers or anything. Unless you wear something soccer related
-leather is big. Leather jackets.
-Basic V neck t shirts with blue jeans
-loose hair. Don't cut it too short, don't use too much gel
-for dinner, do a t shirt and a sports coat
-sunglasses.
-cigarette.

How many bottles of FabriClear spray does it take to treat one bed or one bedroom?

J.A. F

We have a three-bedroom house and a bedbug problem. I've been looking into the use of FabriClear spray, but I'm wondering how much of one bottle does it take to treat one bed or one bedroom. Anyone here have any experience with this product?

Answer
I would not advise this. Youre wasting your time. there was recently a court case in the USA about that OTHER bedbug spray they said killed bedbugs and was organic.. and what ever..
People WON the lawsuit. It did NOT work.

This stuff sounds just like it.

You can not get rid of bedbugs by common products or procedures.
You have to jump on it with BOTH FEET, with professionals and do it right the first time.
It must be followed up at least a second time.
The biggest mistake people make is thinking its easy to get rid of, like food bugs or even ants.

ITS NOT. Because they made all the effective poisons ILLEGAL years ago, bed bugs are harder to get rid of than cockroaches !
BEDBUGS CAN LIVE FOR OVER A YEAR INSIDE A WALL even without getting fed. ( fact)
Sun does not kill bed bugs ( fact)
Steam only kills bugs and eggs that it TOUCHES... so getting inside upholstered furniture with steam is ineffective.
the poison only kills what it can touch too, and typical the poisons they are using only last 20 days. A second treatment WITHIN twenty days is the health department's policy.
If you dont do both... dont bother doing just one. There is no point.

Thermo treatment works on furniture, I think its 140 ' F for as many hours you need to penetrate, but it does not clear your home because they run from the heat and they ARE FAST.

The best thing you absolutely can do...
is treat everything properly right down to your tea towels and shoes, chuck all pillows, bag all beds, get a poison with a long residual, and follow the advice of these videos for detection and traps and procedures that are PROVEN TO WORK.

If you dont jump on it with both feet the problem will be HARDER, later.
And please take precautions so you dont spread them.

See these three videos this guy has its the best reference to SEE and compare and identify a bed bug /bedbug.

How far can I reasonably walk in high heeled leather shoes?

best quality athletic shoes image

Cybele

They're leather Hush Puppies with 2 inch Louis heels. I can walk for miles in heels without a problem but shoes get so beaten up in this weather with all the slush and road salt. How much can I wear shoes outside for before they start getting really beaten up? My wardrobe consists pretty much entirely of dresses from the 30s, 40s, and 50s, so athletic shoes are out of the question

Answer
well if you have toy walk on slush and road salt ..then it depends on how quality your shoes are, Some can last days ..and some can last a couple of hours. But i would recommend that if you really wanna wear heels for you to get some slippers or flats...and then when you get to destination to wear your heels..

What are some options for high-quality sandals or open toed shoes for teenage boys?

We will be doing a ton of walking and I need them to be close to the sturdiness of a good athletic shoe but need them to be open toe. Will spend a little extra money

Answer
The closest thing I know of is Keen shoes. I don't think they have open toe shoes but do have heavy duty sandals that are open on the sides similar to fisherman sandals.
They make very tough shoes.

What is a good running plan to train for a 10k?

pinkypig94

I am running a 10k on Thanksgiving, November 24th, but am a little out of shape, please help me create a training schedule!

Answer
Not much time left, but something can still be done. By today you have 5 and half weeks to go. The basic idea is to gradually increase both quantity and quality of training, except for the last week before the race, when you need to rest a bit too.

The core of the training week could look like this:

MON hard session e.g. 6-8x1km or 5x1.5km or 4x2km at the pace you expect to run the race - with about 2min break between the intervals. It is very hard, so I would start with 5 or 6x1km (or even 10x500m) the first week (and also a bit slower pace) and add a bit every week
WED short hills (run up, walk down - develops leg power and may help you in the finish of the race) like 10-15x100-150m hill - not too steep but not too easy either. Run them fast, but not 100%. Pause between individual hills is just the walk back down and then run again.
FRI or SAT long run - very important to build some endurance. Time spent running continuously is more important than pace or distance on this day. Start depending on your current abilities (e.g. 40 min) and add 5-10 min every week (ideally get to 1 hour continuous running). Keep in mind that your 10k race will take at least 40-45 min (unless you're from Kenya).
These three sessions are the core. Ideally you will also run an easy run (like 30 min very relaxed pace) on the remaining days. You can substitute these with cycling or swimming or other aerobic activities you like (it's good to also do other things besides running to prevent injuries).

About 2 weeks before the race day you should be doing the hardest trainings. In the last 4-5 days before the race don't push it too hard and relax. You may run something like 2x1km (yes, so little) race pace for warm-up 2 or 3 days before the race.

Other notes:
- If your current shape is very bad, you can start with run+walk sessions, e.g. run 3min, walk 2min, run 3min, walk 2min and so on... the running here is very slow, not like the interval session of course.
- Make a trip to mountains or some nice area and walk for several hours - this builds up your general endurance and in case of hills and mountains also leg power.
- Be very careful not to overtrain. Don't do 2 or more hard days in a row if you're not experienced runner. 1 day hard and then at least 1 day easy. That's why I've written MON, WED, FRI - of course select the days as you need, but no 2 adjacent hard days.
- Make sure you have good shoes. You don't want to ruin your feet.
- Enough sleep, eating well and all these obvious things.
- Limit beer and other alcohol.

What are a good pair of running shoes?

Matt

I'm gonna try to run a 10K and the shoes I've got now don't seem to have much support. Running on a tread mill is ok but on pavement is tough. I'm 6'3" about 205lbs. 34 years old. Thanks

Answer
Try Vibram Shoes. Also look into your posture when your running... Are you a heel-toe runner?

I used to run heel-toe and got nowhere in my running. In the process i messed up my knee and i was told i would never run again because of arthritis and the way my knee was sliding across my bones. I changed my form to mid/front foot landing and my knee pain hasn't bothered me, also i have more energy and can run further. With no support shoes you are forcing your body into a more natural form and the running is more fluid.

http://vimeo.com/12551218

The video will help you ... its what got me into this form of running. & vibram shoes are a God-sent for me. I also run only on pavement ( i cant run inside lol )

Also i have ran in "supportive shoes", arch supportive shoes, shoes with special gel inserts, the shoes with the air and gel support at the heel, shoes for overpronation and underpronation, custom made and fitted shoes ext.... NOTHING HELPED; but my Vibram's :]

How to get rid of plantar fasciitis fast ?

I am a track runner and I felt a sharp pain on the arch of my right foot two days ago when I was practicing. I found out that it could have been plantar fasciitis and I really need to get rid of it because I have a track meet in a week and need to practice. The pain is unbearable, and I don't think I can handle it when running long distance. Please help, how can I heal it as fast as possible ?

Answer
Hello,

First of all I am sorry that you have this pain, it must be frustrating.

It is difficult to say exactly if this is indeed what you are suffering from.
In order to diagnose you better please answer these questions:

1) Do you have pain in your heel as well?
2) Do you have high or low arches?
3) What kind of shoes you usually wear? (when not running)
4) How long are you a track runner?
5) Does it hurt worse first thing in the morning?
6) Is there any visible bruising or redness?
7) Is it painful to the touch?

Here are a few things you can do right now:

1) Ice your arch at least 4 times a day, either by applying ice directly or by rolling a frozen bottle under your heel and arch when you sit down.

2) Avoid walking/running on your hurt heel/foot for a few days.

3) Wrap it up with an ace bandage.

4) Purchase custom made orthotics that you can wear in your running shoes.

Again, if you can answer my questions I would be happy to assist you further.
You can write to me directly if you prefer, my email is in my Yahoo profile or itaiw@yahoo.com

Is it possible that Im done with my plantar fasciitis?

Face on Fi

I started running long distances races this year and had horrible plantar fasciitis to the point where I couldnt walk after races or for 5 days after a race. I kept it going and found that walking and a slight job would make it easier to use that foot. I never stopped training, adopted some different stretching techniques and have gone about 3 months without an injury. I would get it after runs longer than 5 miles, now I run 16 miles pain free, are my feet and muscles used to it now?
I would take IB profeun (or however its spelled)
No different socks, wraps, braces, etc.
I would do foot stretches (hard to explain) by turning my feet, pulling toes, foot massages with a spiked ball.

Walking more often and then joggin would stretch my foot out and eventually it went away.
I wonder if I had it too. There is a podiatrist that shows up once a week at our local running store (Fleet Feet) and he said that I had Plantar Fasciitis. I could not walk when I woke up, but I felt better the more I used the injured foot. It would loosen up the tendons and muscles in my foot, kind of like a back injury or pulled muscle.

Answer
I wonder if you really had Plantar Fasciitis! My God, I have had it twice and it floored me both times; 8 months of no running the first time, 5 months the second. Shoot, I couldn't even stand in one place for more than 10 seconds. Check this out:
http://heelspurs.com/index.html

I'm glad you didn't suffer as much as I did in any case.

My advice is to really research your shoes and maybe even consult a podiatrist (do not agree to surgery). If your heels are at an angle (like mine) that may put pressure on your tendon. For me, I ran too far in one pair of shoes and did too much hill training; also, I should have taken a five day break every six weeks. When I started doing this, I was amazed at how many little injuries would emerge that I never felt! Those endorphins are strong and can cover a lot of pain. Taking time off allows those little things to heal properly.

The good news is that I have not had a third relapse in the last three years in part thanks to that web site. Taping the soles of my feet worked wonders!

I am happily married man, to a woman of course, because I am not a pervert. Why does Obama want to make me acept gay people? I have the right to discrimenate against sex addicts who endanger my faith and this country's future.

NOBAMA! ROMNEY 2012!

Answer
Obama is certainly liberal minded. And that poses a threat to all that is decent. Homosexuals make the choice to fall back on their desires and temptations. And that's about as justifiable as me giving in to lust for all women, even though I am married. I say this because the living proof that homos are perverts is right online. Spend some time hanging out on porn video websites and forums. You will find gays lusting over each other through comment. Yet, you don't see women doing this much at all. There is a narcissism involved with gay people and it shows in how they try to force their way of life upon the masses. Marriage is a prime example of this. It's absurd that they are trying to wear the shoes of a man/woman relationship. Segregation has always been an integral part of maintaining balance and order in society. To take that away is to head towards a completely self absorbed culture full of non-empathetic people. Many studies have been done over the last 30 years to show that the more "equal" minded society has become, and the more dependent upon technology, the less empathetic people are. Back when etiquette and modesty were important, the better everyone was. Women were to be feminine and a notch down from men, just like they have been since the beginning. To equal themselves with men was an act of war and considered rebellious. The Holy Bible demonstrates this well, and world history has also shown it. Blacks are still the prime example of "inequality" because they are not equal to whites in many ways. This is obvious if you head on down to the black part of town. They still hang out in the streets blocking traffic, get in public fights, black women swear at their children at a volume that surpasses a police siren. And the police still spend more time in those neighborhoods. I could go on and on. But the point is that blacks have a problem with being fully domesticated. They cannot conform to society fully. They want their own clothes, their own behavior, their own music, their own language, their own churches, their own holidays. Yet demand to be called "equal" when it suits their agenda. By nature, it is IMPOSSIBLE for blacks to conform to society at a degree that is acceptable. And that is what keeps them in prisons more than any other race. There is no prejudice because there is no equality. Men and women are NOT equal. Blacks and whites are NOT equal. And throwing a bunch of religions into one country is like lighting a fuse. It's a matter of time until this country will destroy itself. History is repeating itself. There have been civilizations that have been destroyed because of unmitigated individual freedoms, homosexuality running wild, and conceited feminist women maintaining division.

America and many other parts of the world are becoming arrogant and pretentious all wrapped up in an ego-maniacal "self" machine. The only way forward is backward.

So 2 weeks ago i was at physical therapy rehabbing my ACl, which I got surgery on 4 months ago. So while at physical therapy i was running suicides and when i went down to touch the ground my shoe slipped and my knee bent funny. At first it hurt somewhat of a good amount, probably a 6 out of 10 on a pain level. I also felt a crack, like if you ever cracked a knuckle or something but across my whole knee. Now 2 weeks later it still hurts on the outside of my knee. Should i be worrying about this or no? What do you think this could be? Thanks.

Answer
Hello,

I'm sorry about your knee!
Because you're still in pain, I would either talk to your physical therapists about this or go see your orhopedist who did your surgery.
Did it feel just like an air pop like when you crack your knuckles? I've had 2 knee surgeries and since my surgeries, both my knees now crack as if I was cracking my knuckles. It could be that yours was just a crack where air was being released.
Or it could be something more since you mention that your knee bent funny. Hopefully not though!

I would definitely either talk to your therapists about it or see your othopedist. Better to be safe than sorry!

Anyway, good luck! I hope you recover well!

Hi,
I'm 14 and a girl. I wear women shoes size 7 & my parents bought a pair of 7.5 Nike running shoes to make it last longer because my feet are still growing. My heel slips in these and they feel much bigger. They feel bulky. Is it okay to wear these on my next 7k race?
yea, I do like blisters.. -_-"

Answer
yes it is ok. One thing you can do is wear more than one pair of socks. Add them until you feel a snug fit

What are a good pair of outdoor running shoes for women?

Q. I've always run on the elliptical and treadmill and I have a great pair of Nike Air Maxs that I LOVE. BUT I just started running outside around my neighborhood and they are not cutting it, my feet are killing me. Since I'm not normally an outdoor runner, I'm not sure what features to look for in a good outdoor running shoe. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Asics 2140
