So I would like to get some Timberland boots but I don't know what size to get. I'm a size 7-7.5 in women's but I can usually fit in boys shoes 5-5.5. People have told me that Timberlands usually run big, so I'm wondering what size I should get in Juniors Timberland boots?

Answer
Get a 7. They run half a size big, so get a 7.

What would a women's size 7.5 converse shoe be in kid's size?

*ME!*

Hey! I wear a converse women's size 7.5 and I found a really cute pair in kids sizes they don't have in adults (long live polka dots, even for teenagers!). Anyway, I was wondering what size I'd be in kids or if my feet are two big and I'm out of luck :-/

Thanks in advance!

Answer
that would be a 5.5 but converse run weird so maybe.. a 6

I am going hiking/walking on trail terrain and I noticed that I really don't have any running shoes or shoes for this as well. Can someone advise me to which shoes are very comfortable for running but can also be used a few times without strain for hiking/trails? Oh and by running shoes I mean for women. Thank you!

Answer
I have a pair of New Balance All Terrain running shoes that are great for that. They are not so good for intense running on treadmills or pavement however. Good luck and Happy Trails

What kind of running shoes should I get for running on a treadmill?

hello.

I got a treadmill for christmas and need new running shoes. Today I am going to go purchase some, but what kind are good for running on a treadmill?

Going to Olympia Sports or Sports Authority if that matters.

Answer
You should go to a good running store and have them analyze your gait, if you pronate or not, etc. A good qualified running store should be able to give you the right shoe for your run style. Every BODY is different and there is no easy answer to this. I have personally found -- after years of trial and error -- that Saucony Hurricane works for me. Also, always buy one size bigger in a running shoe. If you wear a size seven, get a size eight in running shoe. This will help reduce blisters and loss of toenails!

My arches are in the process of falling, does this mean I cant wear nice shoes or heels ever again? What helps the pain?

Answer
When your arches fall, there's no such thing as developing a better or higher arch. Not without surgery, anyway. Whether it's with exercises or corrective shoes, you are only strengthening the feet and correcting the ankle alignment. However, the exercises and corrective shoes/orthotics can make the pain and discomfort go away. Once the pain has dissipated, you can wear heels, sandals and other dress shoes. I only recommend wearing these types of shoes for shorter amounts of time. Please check out our Aravon line of women's dress shoes. They are more supportive and more cushioned than anything else on the market. New Balance athletic shoe company makes them. You can even wear custom orthotics with most of them. You get the dress shoe exterior with an athletic shoe feel.

When should I see a doctor if I suspect I have a heel spur?

Learning i

I´ve had this pain in my heel for about three weeks, and it´s not going away. If I don´t go to the doctor, will it only get worse, or can it heal (no pun intended) on its´own?

Answer
The pain often results from inflammation of the plantar fascia, which is a thin connective tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot. Micro tearing and stress of this tissue can cause this problem. Standing, walking, and running on hard surfaces can cause plantar fascitis. A heel spur forms when this condition has been untreated for a long period of time. Most of the time the spur is not the main cause of pain.
There are some home remedies that you can do before heading to the doctor. Get a water bottle, freeze it, and then roll it under your foot for about 15 minutes or so, two to three times a day. This allows you to stretch and ice the inflammed tissue all in one sweep. There are some stretching exercises you can do to help. Also, get some supportive shoes; running shoes with a well cushioned heel and some width for your toes to add stability are ideal. Unfortunately, dress codes at work and limited budgets can interfere with wearing good supportive shoes at work.
There are some arch bands that you can buy in the footcare aisle at your pharmacy or supermarket, or you can make your own. Get an oval cotton pad, and get some athletic tape, and put the cotton pad on the inside of your foot, where your arch is. Wrap the tape around your arch, but make sure it is not too tight so that you don't interfere with the circulation in your foot.
If home remedies don't work, or you have pain while you are at rest, then you need to see your doctor.
Feel better; I know how bad this can hurt!

Everyone keeps telling me I need to be fitted and spend the money on "good" running shoes made for me (I have flat feet) and that a 19 year old kid working at Academny or Foot Locker isn't going to be able to help me. pregnant and the bottom of my foot hurts?

best athletic shoes plantar fasciitis women image

Rubi

I'm 25 weeks pregnant and the bottom of my right foot hurts. It's not the heel, its below my toes on my foot. It hurts every time I walk, I figured it would go away while I sleep since I'm not putting pressure on it but that didn't work! Had me crying because of the pain. It's like its badly bruised but nothings there.

Answer
The most common foot problem that pregnant women suffer is over pronation or the flattening of the arch and edema, which leads to pain to the heel, arch or balls of your feet. Another discomfort may also be experiencing leg cramps, lower back pain and varicose veins with the increase of weight. Due to factors such as these it is essential for pregnant women to learn about foot care so their nine months is made as comfortable as possible for them.

Commonly know as flat feet, it is caused when the arch of a persons foot becomes flattened out with bearing of extra weight. Their feet roll inwards whilst walking. This cause severe strain or even inflammation on the plantar fascia, which is the fibrous band of tissue that runs from the heel to the forefoot.
Over pronation or flat feet can make walking a painful experience and increases strain on the feet calves and /or back. Many pregnant women largely suffer from this in the duration of their pregnancy due to the added pressure that their bodies entail with the weight gain.

Untreated flat feet can result to further foot pain such as Metatarsalgia (pain on the ball of your feet) and Plantar Fasciitis (intense heel pain). Both these conditions can be treated however, to avoid such instances, wearing appropriate footwear such as athletic shoes which provides extra arch support to your feet. Alternatively, another recommendation is to use orthotics similar to the Dr. Foot Pro insoles. This supports arches, cushions the heels and balls of your feet surmounting over pronation.

Elevate your feet as often as possible

Wear socks that will not prevent circulation

When driving or on long haul flights, ensure you take regular breaks to stretch your legs to encourage circulation

Exercise-walking regularly is usually recommended but see your GP about an exercise programme

Maintain a well-balanced diet, avoiding foods with increased levels of salt which source fluid retention

Swelling is normally similar in both feet. If swelling is not symmetrical in both feet, this may be a sign of a vascular problem and a doctor should be contacted immediately

If any kind of pain persists, see your doctor.

I hope this helps you. And good luck.

how do you cure heel spurs without surgery?

Q. i dont want to have surgery because of a heel spur. is their any way of cures without surgery

Answer
Plantar fasciitis (heel spurs) is an excruciatingly painful foot condition caused by the inflammation of the plantar fascia, a broad ligament-like structure that runs along the sole (plantar) of the foot between the toes and the heel bone.

Most people who have plantar fasciitis know they have it and know what it is.

Some doctors compare the pain of heel spurs to the feeling of walking with a pebble in your shoe, just beneath the heel. Ha! Those doctors have never had plantar fasciitis. Those who have will tell you that the pain is far, far worse than that innocuous little analogy suggests. It is so bad, in fact, that it drives many people to submit to horrendously painful corticosteroid shots in their heels, in hope of reducing the pain.

I had a cortisone shot in my right heel the second time I had
plantar fasciitis. I am not a screamer, but let me tell you, that shot caused me to let out a shriek of pain that was heard in the parking lot of the podiatrist's office. It was so painful that I was unable to force myself to undergo the shot in my left heel that was scheduled for two weeks later. Furthermore, though many people do get relief from such shots, for me the shot did no good at all.

Another fairly drastic option for treating plantar fasciitis is surgery to loosen the plantar fascia by making a small cut in it. Certainly this treatment is effective for many people, but few would choose either surgery or those devilish cortisone shots if they had other less invasive treatment options.

Well, there are other treatments that should be tried before turning to surgery. The first time I had plantar fasciitis, I gave up my ten-mile-a-day walks, bought a car (which I had never done before), and abandoned stylish shoes (which are a major culprit in women's foot disorders). I also had a pair of custom-fitted insoles made--for $60--which I put into the Reebok walking shoes that I wore all the time until my heel pain subsided, which it did after about two months. I took aspirin every day to reduce inflammation and relieve pain.

You should, of course, check with your doctor before using any over-the-counter NSAIDS (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or naproxen. But if your doctor approves such medication for you, and if you use it carefully (NSAIDS can be dangerous if improperly used), then such drugs do help to relieve the pain and inflammation of plantar fasciitis.

A few years after my first bout of plantar fasciitis, the condition flared up again, and this time it was even worse than the first time. I had not gone back to wearing high heels, but I had occasionally worn attractive flats that did not provide sufficient support for my unusually high arches--and I had sometimes walked distances in them, since I no longer had a car.

I need more arch support than most, but everyone should make sure that the shoes they wear offer good arch support, because most cases of plantar fasciitis could be prevented if only people would take better care of their arches.

This time the pain was so crippling that I ended up having to use a cane for over a year. (My son complained that I was getting old. I told him to think of it instead as an athletic injury--I walked so much that I damaged my feet.) Because I had to stay off my feet as much as possible, I became virtually housebound, not a situation I relish.

It was the severity of this bout of plantar fasciitis that drove me to subject myself to that dreadful cortisone shot. Because that shot didn't help, the podiatrist was recommending surgery. But I kept putting it off, even as I began to implement a couple of other suggestions she had tossed out.

First, I switched to New Balance walking shoes. For some reason, the New Balance brand provides better arch support for
plantar fasciitis sufferers, and podiatrists routinely recommend that their plantar fasciitis patients wear New Balance. For dressier occasions, I wear "grandma" shoes--fairly wide, well-constructed black or tan shoes with really good arch supports. (The brand I like is S.A.S. )

Admittedly, these shoes aren't pretty. I now wear slacks or calf-length skirts, because my granny shoes don't work well with shorter skirts and dress

I'm talking about those very high heels. Why do men think they are sexy and why do women want to wear those high stilettos knowing they will wreck their feet?

Answer
Saw a young women a couple days ago at the lake wearing high heels, I thought she would twist her ankle for sure as the ground was lumpy.
Here in Hungary they wear high heels all day long everywhere,I am amazed how they can walk and run on cobblestone streets with them on, jumping onto buses and trolleys. It is a wonder.
I read a very long article by a very old Chinese women years ago who was one of the last "victims" of the "Tiny Feet "culture in China.
With the poor circulation to the lower body, it makes ones bottom half swell up and it is suppose to look attractive.

The richer and more powerful the family was, the smaller the women's feet would be bound.
Poor women had 5" feet so they could still hobble around in the fields and work while the super rich had feet as tiny as 3"!
Basically they had stubs hanging off their legs.

Seems we have fashions that came from total abuse of women and we still fall for it.
High heels make one feel taller and look weaker and frail, very fem. like a little victim who needs a man for protection.
It is also a symbol of power, rich men have women who don't need to walk or protect themselves, they have the power to take care of their women. They can afford cars, drivers and maids to do the things women can't do for themselves when their feet are bound or proped up in modern high heels.
I admit, I have some 2 1/2" heels that I rarely wear, they look nice with some outfits but again can only wear them when I am being "taken care of'' as when we are driving and my husband is with me. I don't wear heels when I am alone and need to watch out for myself.
It is a control issue that women have bought into.
You may want to read up on the history of foot binding and the history of shoe fashions.
Powerful men in history have also worn high heels, a sign or power.
Read the answer about ballet dancers.Yes I took some ballet classes years ago and our instructor was always saying how a dancers dancing days were numbered and how they usually wound up with serious back and foot issues as early as in their 40's.
I had a couple friends who were performers of ballet and they were always in some sort of pain.
They could dance but barely could walk. They wore flat shoes in their everyday life most times.
You can always tell the older ladies who used to wear high heels, they are now wearing orthopedic inserts and have toes that look like twisted twigs, sad.
In Las Vegas where we used to live, you would often see women hanging around the casino's in groups wearing," Hooker Heels" . It was like a calling card, a way to advertise they were available, makes you wonder who really is behind the high heels fashions, men or women.Who is really in control.
My son was in Japan and saw some of the really crazy platform shoes the girls were wearing. Many find themselves in the hospital with broken legs and twisted ankles. What a price to look sexy.
Sorry for such a long answer, really a "sore" subject with me. It is hard to find nice looking shoes that don't have high heels, they are either too casual or too old fashioned looking, the shoe industry seems not to make many shoes for dressing up that don't have high heels.
Maybe in the 1960's women should of thrown out the high heels instead of burning their bra's.

Running Technique Keys:

Faster Running in General:
Running faster requires - either, a higher out put of leg rotation or running on your toes or both. Pumping your elbows to the back harder and faster is the key to getting a higher leg rotation. However, XC runners should stay away from being too high on their toes - risk of twisting an ankle is too great.

A racing shoe that properly fits your foot and used for race purpose only, will enhance your speed. Placing a thin insole in your racing shoe makes your racing shoe feel very comfortable for running in without soaks. Replace the insoles when they begin to show signs of wear or when they are flat in your impact area. They can be bought in some grocery stores.

Faster 100m -
requires 100% application of arms and legs at a maximum output rate.

Faster 200m (curve) -
requires special lean techniques for running the curve at top speed. The straight lean for wide curves and the "T" Torque for tight curves are the dormant lean styles. Application of the 100m running technique is used for the straight.

Faster 400m -
requires strategy, stamina, cursing power and a burst of closing kick energy. Having enough energy to close strong is the key.

Faster Speed For Races Greater than 400m -
requires strategy, higher leg rotation endurance, cursing power, body ventilation and relaxation skills, an on-and-off valve for generating power with your arms and, a final burst of closing kick energy. Having enough energy to close strong is the key. (Your technique is knowing when to use these essentials.)

American Boys - 36 inches and 39 inches

The hurdle heights for college and open divisions are:

Sustained pressure on the hip joints. One must have an ability to keep one foot on the ground at all times while walking forward after locking the knee joint. Power swings with the elbow in conjunction with accentuated hip swivel provides the power behind speed walking.

I need some good running shoes that are durable on any terrain and are comfy.
I'm not going to use them very often, perhaps 3 times a week.
Any ideas for good shoes.
All answers are appreciated

Answer
The best answer to this totally depends on your running gait. You need to know if you pronate, underpronate/suppinate or are a neutral runner before buying shoes. If you don't know go to a running store and ask them to analyse your tread - the good shops will have a machine to do this and will not charge you. Listen to advice from a shop assistant who runs and is trained in the shoe models (not a weekend fill-in!). Visit somewhere like www.runnersworld.co.uk and read reviews on shoes that meet your needs. Try a few pairs on to see how they fit around your toes and heel before buying any. Taking this well-researched path will reduce any chance of injury to your legs/hips/back by running in the wrong shoes. Best of luck!

Answer
More and more superstores/grocery stores [Wal*Mart...depending where you live - Meijers] are starting to sell namebrand clothing and shoe brands. You could try that. Or there's always eBay. I know that they have online stores connected to eBay that sell running shoes wholesale - brand new for really cheap. Those are a few options. :) Good luck!

What type of shoes are best for me as a runner?

best 800m running shoes image

eat2sleep4

I run the mile and 800m. When I run I normally land on my heels and have a hard time landing on my toes. As a result, I bought shoes with shocks last time to reduce the impact of my heels landing on hard pavement. Is this a good idea? Recently, I read that for the 800m it is a good idea to wear light shoes. I have found that the lighter the shoes i get the less support i have on my ankles--resulting in my ankles rolling. Any suggestions?

Answer
since everyones feet are different than another persons, the best thing to do is find a fleet feet shoe store near you. they will check your feet, have you run on a in-store treadmill while video taping your feet movement, you can run outside with the new shoes near the store as they watch you also. they are very helpful and will fit you with the shoes your feet need.

I'm on the track team. What kind of spikes are the best? My shoe size is 10, so what size should my spikes be?

Ajlal Z

and are track spikes really better than normal running shoes?
I run 100 meter and 4x4, and maybe hurdles.

Answer
Track spikes are definitely better then normal shoes to RACE in. The size changes for everyone. most people like their spikes the same size as their shoes. However some people (including myself) like their spikes a bit smaller (I normally wear size 12.5 but I get size 12 spkies).

The type of spike depends on how much you are willing to spend and what events you do. Nike generally has the best spikes. The best spikes for middle distance-long distance (800m and up, could run some 400s in them) would be the Nike Zoom Victories (they are $110). a cheaper middle distance spike is the Nike Rival md. (if you hold these 2 spikes next to each other it will be obvious why one is twice the price of the other one).

I have to walk and stand on a hard floor all day in a business casual environment, stone floors etc. And I cannot wear athletic walking shoes to the office, but I need something that will keep my knees and back from getting so fatigued during the day. I don't shop for shoes often so I'm kind of lost when it comes to brand and types out there. I'm looking for something under $100 US.

Moral Orel

I'm looking for some new walking-around shoes, not gym shoes. I've been told by people that I tend to pick out "old man shoes". I don't know, what kind of shoes should I be looking for.

Answer
You can wear sneakers for actions like running and sports but you should wear real shoes for everything else.

mcksimmy

Does anyone have them and how do I know if thats what it is. Its always sore, but sometimes I get pains in it that start gradually, get worse and then lessen and this all happens in like less than ONE MINUTE. It will do it and stop and do it and stop and sometimes I can walk quite far and it doesnt hurt at all, then I sit down and when I get up, it hurts bad. Is this a heel spur, what can I do to lessen the pain? How do you get rid of it? Whats it from? Any information on how to treat it would be great. I have no insurance, so the doctors visit is pretty much out of the question!

Answer
You most likely haveplantar fasciitis ( heel spurs) and a podiatrist is the best doc to see. REALLY try to go see one. Here are a couple of things that also help a great deal. Before you get up in the morning or up from sitting, stretch your leg straight out in front of you, then , bring your toes toward your head while keeping your leg still. This stretches the sole of the foot. Hold the stretch several seconds and repeat several times...then stand. Also, if you wear shoes with a high, rounded instep they REALLY help. Cherokee Rockers are the best. You can do a web search for them...there are many places that sell them. Also check local stores, especially Famous Footwear. These shoes are a lifesaver. I am a nurse and wore them for years. Give them a few weeks and your symptoms should be dramatically relieved. They look just like stylish athletic shoes and are not expensive. I have listed one site below.

Anyone help diagnosis me... damn pain on my heel?

augster77

The pain is at a point on the upper heel, left back side. Sometimes when I am lightly jogging it feels as if there is like a rock in my shoe, but there's nothing there. if I do any more intense running, feels like things are ripping in that area. When I do a calf stretch, I can't get my heel all the way down or the pain also gets very tough and feels like its ripping again. Very little pain if any when sitting and walking, not anymore in the morning or evening.

I am very athletic, young, healthy 32y/o male that plays on many sporting teams trying to get back out there. The last few weeks, I have reframed from running, which is SOOO hard to do. Won't even go to the gym to run on a crosstrainer as I'm paranoid.

Suggestions? I'm thinking heel spur, my chiropractor is thinking achilles. I have been taking ibuprofen, icing it, and letting my chiropractor zap it with a photon light laser which has helped my elbow and shoulder injuries in the past.

thanks!!

Answer
MY daughter had to where a heel support because her achilles tendon wasn't stretched enough when she played sports.....so that could be the problem !!

I am a British athlete. I train daily, and compete often, I only have one pair of running shoes and they are Reebok Fuel Technos. They are so comfy and they're are very cheap, and as a athlete is is essential that my shoes help me perform my best. I love using them in long jump because when I land it is light and I stay on my feet.

What running shoes do you have ? And what do you like to perform with your running shoes on ?

Answer
I use Asics - they're the best running shoes I've ever worn. They feel nice, and I can run for miles in them.

i need to get a new pair of running shoes and lately i've been doing more running on trails then i did before. i still run on pavement probably about 60% of the time but i feel like regular running shoes will get messed up with all the other running being on trails. can i buy trail running shoes from new balance or under armour and use them on pavement frequentley without ruining them? or would that damage the shoes?

Answer
It's more bad for the shoes than for your feet. They'll wear out a little faster. What about having two pairs of shoes one for pavement and one for trails. I use three pairs because it takes them 3-4 days to dry out after a good trail run.

Approximately how much does owning a horse cost per year?

Q. Include all costs such as vet fees, shoes and food to total. Just trying to figure out if it will be something manageable in the near future. Thank you!
I wouldn't be using the horse for show or anything like that. Just for riding and a great companion. I've had a love for horses all my life, and it may be a few years yet before I can afford the space and property needed. I live in Ontario Canada. Thanks for all answers! :)

Answer
Some of the costs associated with keeping a horse are highly specific for location. As an example, in the specific area of Southern California where I live, a box stall with full board (i.e., feed and bedding provided, and someone else feeds the horses and mucks out the stalls) is running about $450-$600/month, depending on the amenities of the stable (i.e., access to riding rings, trails, turn-out pens, hot walkers, wash stalls, equipment like jumps, caveletti, etc., and amenities for boarders like individual tack rooms and so forth). Board for a horse in a neighborhood 60 miles down the freeway from here runs more like $300-450, tops. If I go even a bit farther out, maybe 150 miles away, I can find board situations for around $250/month.

If you want to figure what board costs are in your area, you have to call the local stables. You also need to decide what level of board you are willing to accept. Do you need a full board situation where someone else does all the feeding and cleaning for you? Or are you going to do your own feeding and cleaning? Do you want a box stall in a showplace stable or will you accept a pen with a shelter in one corner for your horse to get out of rain? Do you need a place with riding rings for schooling, or just access to open country for trail riding? Do you want amenities like a lounge with a TV and vending machines with cold soft drinks, bathrooms with hot and cold water that are cleaned daily, or can you live with a few lawn chairs under a tree and a port-a-potty that nobody seems to clean and you may have to bring your own toilet paper?

Ditto with shoeing costs. In my neck of the woods, we have one shoer who has the business pretty much to himself. He charges $95-125 for a straight cold shoeing and trim, nothing special. Out 60 miles away where my friend boards her horses, there are several shoers in competition and the same shoeing costs $60-75. And out further in the rural areas, $50-55 for the same job.

Vet fees are somewhat less variable, in my experience, although there is some fluctuation based on area. It's my experience, and this tracks with pretty much everyone that I know of who has horses, that it's a good idea to budget a minimum of $500/year for preventive care and routine calls. You might not spend that much, but it depends. If your horse needs bute regularly and banamine occasionally, or is an older horse, or has funky teeth and needs a lot of dental preventive maintenance, you'll probably run almost up to the $500/year and maybe go beyond it.

Additionally, it's a good idea to have a reserve fund for vet emergencies. I budgeted $5000 for my reserve fund and in thirty years of horse ownership had to tap into it for several thousand dollars twice-- once when my horse got pneumonia and again at the end of my horse's life when things started going wrong. I don't mean that you necessarily have to have $5000 sitting around in a bank account or piggy bank, but you should have access to that sum of money without having to worry about feeding your family or paying the rent if you need to tap into it. A credit card with a $5000 limit or a family member who will loan it to you or some other source can work, but the point is you HAVE to be able to get the money if you need it. Horse emergencies do not come cheap.

There are other costs associated with horses that you have to consider. If you don't have a van or trailer yourself, you may have to pay transport costs if your horse needs to be moved for any reason. There are "consumables" like fly spray, hoof dressing, shampoo, saddle soap, and other things you use on a horse that nickel and dime you all the time. If you have to drive to where you board your horse, there's the cost of gas. And of course if you intend to take lessons or have your horse in training, there are the costs associated with that.

It isn't cheap to own a horse, but if you can manage the costs, IMO there aren't many better ways to spend money on your leisure time.

What's the difference between running shoes and weight lifting shoes?

.

I was looking online for some running shoes and came across weight lifting shoes and wanted to know what the difference was between the two. I run and weight and know that running shoes can better your performance by a ton when you run long distances but do weight lifting shoes do the same when lifting? If so how? Thanks to all who answered.

Answer
running shoes help absorb the shock put on your muscles and joints when you run, where weightlifting shoes help your body position into a more natural and efficient weight lifting form.

p.s. using the wrong shoes for running may injure you, but using the wrong shoes for weightlifting should not do any physical harm!

What type of running shoes should I buy?

i bmth

I want to start running more and I would like some good running shoes. Currently I am at 1 &1/2 to 2 miles but I will be doing a 5k in June. I also want to do the Mackinac Island 10k run in September. I have low, almost flat, arched feet. I want the Nike Eclipse running shoes but I don't know if those will be right for me.

Answer
Definitely try them on first. I find saucony works best for me and Asics second. I didn't like Nike much. I had Nike racing flats for some xc tracks, but normally ran in saucony shoes. They only make running shoes. Brooks and new balance are also liked by many. If you can find a store that specializes in running shoes, go there because they can probably find you shoes that match your feet and running style. Shoes are way more important in running than most people realize so you want to make sure you get the right ones.

What to pack for a trip to Spain in March?

Kaitlyn

I'm going on a class trip to Spain in March 2013. We will be all over the country, including Barcelona, Valencia, Granada, Costa del Sol, Seville, Cordoba, Madrid, and then to Morocco. I understand that the weather in Spain can be unpredictable. I don't want to dress too touristy either... What kind of clothes should I pack? Also, what are some things that could come in handy that I might need while I am there? Thanks! :)
I'm an 18 year old girl from Ohio, if that helps... And I am in Spanish IV at my High School, and I plan to major in Spanish, so communicating with the locals is certainly not my worry. I just really don't want to pack a ton, because I don't want to lug it around the country.

Answer
I've been to Spain in March and I would definitely pack "spring" clothes: jacket, sweaters, long-sleeve shirts, and trousers. Things that you can layer is always a good bet. Comfortable shoes are a must if you're traveling anywhere I think, especially if you're using public transportation because not everything will have a train/bus station close by.
Because you're traveling to so many places, I would also recommend not packing too much, just so you don't have to lug it around with you and pack and unpack so much at each destination.
I would avoid bringing any electronics other than a computer, mostly because they're heavy and if you don't have an electric adapter for some of them, they won't work. Some devices, like most computers, have built in adapters. The way to find out if it does is to look at the writing on the plug or device. If it says "Input: 100-240v" you're fine and all you need is the European plug (which has two circular prongs).
As for not looking like a tourist, don't worry, you will! In general, Spaniards like to look nice--nice shoes, clothes that are clean, hole-free, ironed, with a good fit. Most women have on makeup and most men have gelled hair (especially if you're "going out"). I don't know where you're from, age, or gender, but my standard is jeans, a basic shirt, and non-sneaker shoes (nothing screams "tourist!" more than sneakers/trainers. In general, they only wear sneakers if they're running or at the gym). I don't exactly "blend in" but I certainly don't stand out.
Also, if you know Spanish, that will make you less of a tourist, even if your Spanish is, for example, Mexican Spanish (yes, there's a HUGE difference, but still they'll appreciate it). Keep in mind that in Barcelona and other parts of Catalonia, they prefer to speak Catalan instead, though most people do still understand Castellano.
Of the places you mentioned, I've only been to Barcelona, Madrid, and Sevilla and the latter was definitely my favorite. Do be prepared to get lost in Sevilla! It's almost inevitable but still a great city. Where ever you are, best go in pairs or groups of three and keep personal equipment close at hand (cameras, phones, etc). I've never felt uneasy in Spain, but it doesn't hurt to be cautious.
Take a camera and have fun!

Where is a good place to buy running shoes in Taipei, Taiwan?

I am running in the marathon at Tarko Gorge in November. I need to pick up another pair of running shoes, but I have no idea where to go. I've been in Taiwan for 2 months so I know where to get shoes at night markets etc., but I need quality running shoes. It would be nice if there was a shoe or running specific store. It would also be nice if the store has people that speak English and could fit me for quality running shoes. Price is really not an issue.

Answer
If you are wear it for the competition, don't but it at night markets.
You should buy it at department stores, sports wear store...etc.
In Taipei, go to Gongguan (å¬é¤¨) very close to Taiwan university, there are some sports wear shops there, price are resonable, quality is also good.

Every year from October in Taiwan, time for department store's on sale, buy everything ,they always has discount better than regular time.
Shinkong Mitsukoshi, Sogo....
Go go go...
