What is the best running shoe for high arches and neutral stride when running 30+ miles a week?

I have run three half marathons this summer with my Nike Air pegasus 26+ and at first they felt great but then I developed piriformis syndrome and now they make the outside of my feet hurt. I have been recommended asics but am not knowledgeable enough to go buy a pair. I have very narrow feet with high arches and tend to run a little bit towards the outside of my foot. Please help!

Answer
"If you have a high arch, your footprint will curve decidedly inward, making the middle of your foot look very skinny. If you are just examining your foot instead of your footprint, you will notice a high and definite arch on your foot. If you push your hand against the bottom of your foot, your foot will not succumb to the pressure easily; the arch will probably remain rigid and may never touch your hand at all.

If this is the case, you may supinate. Supination, or underpronating, is when your feet roll outwards as you run. This is the least common of the three types. You need to look for flexible shoes with a soft midsole to act as shock absorbers for your body. Look for the keywords "flexible" or "cushioned" when shopping for running shoes. "

I did a search on supination and got the following thread on runnersworld.com.
http://www.runnersworld.com/community/forums/index.jsp?plckForumPage=ForumDiscussion&plckDiscussionId=Cat%3aShoes+and+StuffForum%3a687106477Discussion%3aaa80c002-6f08-4424-85a7-42b3f04bae9a

Based on all this, it sounds like the Mizuno Wave Rider or the Asics Nimbus 11 might do the trick, maybe with an orthotic insert to support the high arch. I'm not a supinator, so I can't give you any first hand advice. The folks on the runnersworld.com forums are pretty knowledgeable though, so you might even ask this question there. Most will tell you to go to a running specialist store to have your gait analyzed though, which is probably the best bet.

What are some running shoes for heavy runners?

bellaleaha

I am a heavy runner who supinates and has an extremely high arch. Can anyone suggest a good cushioned running shoe?

Answer
I'm not sure if you have them in your area, but a store called Front Runner (or another one called Fleet Feet) will set you up with the best pair of shoes for your running style. They will watch you run for a little while and then give you a couple different options.

Mizuno has several pairs with support. Go to Mizuno.com and search on men's footwear - click on Support. Those will be what you are looking for. The Inspire is a good looking shoe and is lightweight.

Don't listen to people saying "quit running". It's great that you are being active. Running is the all time best calorie burning workout you can do. DEFINITELY get fitted or your knees will hurt.

Comfortable and stylish walking shoes for Taiwan?

Hi guys!
I'm going to Taiwan for vacation and I was wondering what were some comfortable yet stylish walking shoes for teenage girls? Thanks!

Answer
Hey,
Check Vans, Nike and Reebok. They all have really good quality and comfy walking shoes. It really depends on your style and preferences which one is "good" for your taste. I heard Macy's have great sales on shoes these days, I'm not sure if it's still on, but might be worth to check. Anyways, good luck finding one and have a nice trip in Taiwan!

What is the most fashionable way for a man to dress while living in an Ashram in India?

Bobbo27

I am going to an Ashram in the Himachal Pradesh region of Northern India next month. I always envy the fashionably dressed Europeans who's style appears to come together so effortlessly.

Can anyone recommend specific clothing that will allow for a style of dress such that I 'blend in' with the rest of the boho chic crowd in Northern India?

Answer
For casual every day wear, a silk and cotton jersey knit long sleeve tee, and a pair of nice Diesel or Levi's jeans. If you want shorts it's not easy to find a nice pair that will make you look cool at the same time. Forget the chinos or cargos or those multi-pocketed combat looks, go for the neat, tailored styles. As for length, it really depends on the occasion and also how shapely and appealing you happen to think your legs are. Look for white or beige linen shorts for a cooler look, not the heavy baggy cotton plaid-front types that look like you are carrying a bunch of rocks in your pockets. Never wear running shoes or technical sandals. Prefer espadrilles, and if you insist wearing sandals, chose a nice classic leather open sandal (Sperry Topsider sandal, cK, Fluevog's Fisherman Luke). For something a little dressier but still dressed-down, a nice cotton t-shirt, a good quality linen suit, a pair of old-school sneakers like Converse or a nice John Fluevog sneaker... Polo shirts (of course Lacoste, not BUM equipment) are always in style, with jeans or for a dressier look. As for size, never wear baggy or loose-fitting clothes, and if you are slim, prefer tight fits rather than bulky. Always balance the feminine and the masculine, and go for a neutral look. A few accessories are a must: a nice watch, not too ostentatious, perhaps a Breitling Ocean, maybe a simple silver ring with a lizard, a hippy-ish woven wristband, a small ivory feather on a leather string around the neck. But don't wear them all at once...

Et voilà, you are me!

How did the British feel about serving the Indians in India?

Silly_Goos

In the early 20th century, when Britain had control of India, how did they feel about serving them? Were they honorable men? Why or why not?
Thanks! :D

Answer
I am not understanding what you mean by the British SERVING the Indians.... ?

I know that the British USED the INDIANS to "service" THEM.
The British made the Indians servants, well, they "hired" them if that is what you wish to call it.

I recently had a neighbor whose father was a small child during the British occupation of India. The boy had been offered a job as a houseboy in a British officer's home BUT he had to have a pair of shoes to get the job. His entire family had to come together, uncles, aunts and cousins included to pool all their money to buy the boy a pair of shoes so he could get this job to be able to help support his family.
The officer never considered that the boy's family was simply too poor to afford shoes and just figured the child was a semi-barbarian and was doing him a favor by working him 12-14 hrs a day for a very small pittance, and not as a young man feeding his family.
An Elitist attitude will do that.

Indian soldiers serving in the military were mostly strong, honorable men, serving on BOTH sides.
Of course, the British looked down upon them as inferiors.
Not all, but most.
Conquerors always feel superior.

I guess it really depended on what side you were on, the British side or the opposing Indian side.

Keep in mind that India was already a great, complex, learned, and ANCIENT society when Alexander the Great invaded them..... while residents of the British Isles were running around in fur loinclothes.

Just not really sure what you are asking here.

I'm planning a wedding, two months to go. What will I most likely forget to do?

mschickade

I'm so afraid that I'll forget to do something important, or that I'm not even aware of what to do. I've got everyone hired and the dresses are almost done. (I'm making them myself.) I'm just afraid of forgetting something! HELP!

Answer
* Confirm delivery of your flowers (church and to your house) the day before or on the day. (Learned this the hard way - they forgot some of the flowers for the church!)

* Confirm your hairdresser, etc. the day before or day of the wedding.

* Drape yourself with fabric the colour of your dress and do a trial run with your make-up to see which colours look best with that colour. It helps to do this using the light you'll be in. (Tips: Don't uses glittery or pearlised eyeshadow; don't use unfamiliar products lest you get a skin reaction.) Do a practice run with your hair and veil/headpiece, if necessary.

* Ensure your maid-of-honor knows everything so she can remind you of things and help with confirming/coordinating vendors.

* Break in your shoes. Don't just wear them around the house - go outside to scuff the bottoms a bit so you won't slip and fall on slippery floors.

* If traveling abroad for your honeymoon, make sure your passport is up to date and know where it is at all times! Don't forget visas, shoots, etc. if required.

* Make sure you have someone to look after the house whilst you're gone (plants, mail, pets in care...). Some appliances continue to use electricity when they are off but still plugged in, so turn them off. Empty the fridge of food that might go bad while you're gone. Don't advertise that you will be out of town, like posting it to Facebook, for example as some crooks scan for this kind of info. Make sure all doors and windows are locked. Hide keys or give to a trusted friend so you don't loose them or get locked out on return. Ensure someone knows how to contact you while you're away in case of emergency. Don't forget to pack a small contact book if you want to mail postcards. Empty your purse/wallet of everything you won't need, especially credit cards or other cards that just take up space/weight. Get a little local currency and, if necessary, traveler's cheques. Don't forget chargers for phone, camera and a voltage converter.

* Pack a little emergency kit for make-up and hair touch-up, etc.

* Make sure camera/video batteries are charged.

* Even though it's your day and you are the centre of attention, don't forget to always express love and thanks to everyone who is helping you.

* Don't forget to have something light to eat, even if you're too excited or not hungry at the time.

* Smile and acknowledge all your guests as you walk down the isle. It's easy to forget this as you focus on your man waiting for you at the alter! At the reception, be sure you mingle with all your guests.

* Don't worry, as that never does any good anyway! Even if you do forget something, it won't be the end of the world!

* Whatever else you do, relax, take things slow, and savior every second. You will be amazing how quickly the day will go!

I'm looking for a type of workout shoe, one that can do step aerobics, tae bo and aerobics. I'm getting confused with all the different types of shoes listed. I see 'High Performance' and then I see the tried and true 'Cross-Trainer" types listed. Such as listed at Kohl's the Athletic shoe options are Running, Trail, Cross-Training, High-Performance, Hiking & Walking and Sandals. What workout exactly are High Performance shoes for?

Answer
DP

About fifty buck$,,,,, Bada Bing! :-)

A High performance shoe is a high performance running shoe. Usually designed for distance running. The Cross-Trainer id a shoe designed for multiple activities, Gym, run, lifting, an all around sports shoe.

Do not put much faith in the names my friend. It is marketing to the max. Instead rely on the fit and comfort test. Especially in the firmness, and padding, of the arch area and the forefoot. In the routines you mention those will be the points of most contact,

Whats the difference between these shoes? and which do you think are right for me?

So i was at kohls and i was looking at athletic shoes for myself and the labels said
running shoes
cross training shoes
high performance shoes
what is the difference between the three?

oh and what do you think is the right shoes for me? when i workout i like to do a variety of different things some walking running kickboxing tae bo dancing high low aerobics etc?

Answer
Generally, running and jogging shoes are built for forward motionâthat is, theyâre good for heel strike to toe-off. They have an emphasis on thicker heels and mid soles with more flexibility in the toe area, and have thicker overall cushioning that allows for shock absorption during impact. This helps transfer energy from legs to feet and into the ground as runners move along. The soles of running shoes are curved so that the front tip of the shoe is arched upward and has distinct treadsâboth of which also aid in the forward running motion.

Training exercises take advantage of repeated movements to condition specific parts of the body. This could mean anything from lateral moves in an aerobics class to the high impact of kickboxing to the repeated motion of weight lifting. Training shoes are designed with this variety of uses in mind. They feature characteristics like flexibility in the forefront of the shoe to allow for more agility and added support on the sides to aid in lateral movement, with added cushioning placed in key areas of the shoe for shock absorption. This combination of support, flexibility and cushioning allow athletes to easily move from weight lifting exercises like squats along to more flexible movements like lunges, while accommodating linear movements for warm-up such as a brief walk or light jog. The soles of training shoes usually have a very supportive heel and slight treads since theyâre not intended for running on the road.

For over a hundred years, New Balance has been renowned for our running shoesâassisting the most casual of runners to the elite members of Team New Balance in their pursuit of excellence. But if youâre after a shoe to aid your weight training regimen or better support your aerobics endeavors, try on a pair from our training collection. We promise you wonât be disappointed.

http://www.newbalance.com/performance/training/whytrainingshoes/

High Performance are either running or cross training shoes with more padding and things in the shoe so it will be more comfortable. I think if you are doing so much you should decide based on the descriptions I sent you and hope this is helpful. If you do more running I would get running shoes, but if you do more aerobics I would choose cross training shoes.

What's the best running shoe for overpronators?

coinqueen2

I started running after seeing my friend complete the NYC Marathon (Nov 1 09) and haven't stopped since.

Now that I'm getting more involved in building my base mileage (I'm up to 13 miles/ week now!), I'm beginning to realize how inappropriate my running sneakers are. Before running, I was heavily involved in just a 30 minute cardio routine and 75 minutes of very regimented weight training. So the New Balance 411 was okay for my regular workouts, but I'm finding it's not the best for my running.

After speaking with a friend who works in the running shoe business, he suggested that I stick with a New Balance shoe but come up to an 800 or a 900 level shoe.

I'm a mild overpronator and I'm looking at the New Balance 1225 and the New Balance 850. Does anyone have any feedback regarding these shoes?

I started off by looking at the New Balance 993 and the New Balance 904 first but wasn't impressed with the descriptions and the reviews.

I appreciate any feedback you can give me on New Balance sneakers.

Answer
I overpronate too, and the Brook's Addition series has been good. I started with Addition 7's and now have Addition 8's.

But perhaps more useful to you is how I ended up with them. Go to a running store with video analysis setup. That's a treadmill for you to run on with a video recorder. They take a baseline video of you running in stocking feet, then they haul out their top 3 or 4 stability shoes, you try each one one and run in them while they record your feet. In the slow mo playback you can actually see which pair makes your feet the most stable. It's actually pretty easy to see when they use that slow motion playback

Are Crocs good for all day walking shoes?

I am going to Europe for 2 weeks next month & I need a good pair of walking shoes! I have quite flat feet
but I still need a little arch support. Would Crocs be good? If not, any other suggestions? Thanks!

Answer
No.

Buyer beware buying a good walking shoes. I'm a difficult one when it comes to good shoes, I have bunion surgery with one foot, so I'm picky to prevent my other foot worst.

I bought a good 'walking shoes' called Mephisto, and walked on them in Europe for several hours and I was limping that afternoon. I just couldn't wear them anymore, I went back to my spare pair of mules. There's a certain shoes I could walk for days, without any problem, mostly mules shoes. One is my mules Icon, I've had those for 13 years.

Just recently, I bought 2 pair of shoes, $700 worth @ Zappos, where they have free shipping & free returns. I am a 5 1/2, so I bought a size 6. Returned them. Ordered a 5, too small. I saved $700.
I went to Nordstrom's, they're having shoe sales. Found 2 shoes, both less than $300. Both were rated as best comfortable shoes for walking. BTW: I wore one of the boots for 4 hours, and I didn't even do that much walking, mostly standing on the same spot . . . . and I was already limping. I took it back the following day!

I can't wear athletic shoes, but I can go for miles in my cowboy boots! So, if you want good walking shoes, specially for 2 weeks, you need to find one that you can stand & walk that you KNOW won't give you any problems, and ONLY YOU know which shoes they are, not from someone who haven't been in your shoes.

My cousin can shop for 13 hours wearing high heels, meaning what's good for others may hurt your feet. Who knows, those Crocs may be good for you. I'm not you and you're not me. I wear them, for the garden, but I can't wear them for too long.

What are some comfortable and warm walking shoes that are not sneakers?

My mom bought me an 11 1/2 Nike hyperdunks basketball shoes for Christmas. They Are really long for my feet. And my feet are a little wider than normal people. So I'm thinking about trading in for an 11, but I'm a little concerned it will be long enough but a little skinny. So I was wondering if I traded for an 11 would the shoes stretch width wise? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Answer
That's the whole point of breaking in shoes. I had the same problem,I had a pair of 2011 nike hyperfuse Westbrooks and they took about 2 weeks to break in. I suggest you where nike elite socks which you can buy at footlocker for about 14 dollars because they cushion your feet while trying to break them in. I also suggest after buying those you should play in an indoor gym or run indoor so you break them in faster. What it is, is the material on basketball shoes is rubbery so it takes a while to spread them out, its normal. Your feet are going to be sore, but after a couple days you should be fine.

Which running shoes are better, the Nike Air Max+ 2011 or the Nike LunarGlide+?

I don't really care for colors or pricing. I just really want to know which one offers the best support during running. Anyone out there that have both and like one over the other better for running?
Also trying to avoid shin splints. I started running 4 weeks ago and from time time I would get this and it would stop me from pushing further. So which shoe works better?
I am a new runner. My best used to be jogging .75 nonstop in high school, but just recently started building up to over 2 miles.

I normally wear 3-4" high heels on a daily basis, and am used to running down the halls in heels in my office when i need to do something urgent. So I really have not much experience with running or sport shoes....

Answer
The Nike Air Max are a really nice running shoe, but I just tried on the LunarGlide+3 and love it.
They are:

Light
Stable
Cushioned Well
Rebounds Properly

I suggest trying the LunarGlide +3 out.

I have flat feet and I have to wear orthotics but they don't always help my feet. My feet are still flat and it hurts to wear basically any shoe that doesn't have my orthotics.
I also have PE this year as one of my classes so I need some good running shoes or athletic shoes that are cute yet comfortable with good arch support.
Can anyone help me??
(I'm not sure if I put this in the right section so excuse me if you think I didn't.)

Answer
I don't like the style of New Balance very much (or any running shoe for that matter), but they have an amazing arch support.
Adidas have great arch support too (get the sambas...they're a soccer shoe)

As for flipflips or a slipper, you should get birkenstocks. They're a bit expensive, but it's worth it. you feel the arch no matter what.

Stay away from converse, flip flops, uggs, and flats, as they will do no justice to your feet.

I hope this helps, and good luck finding those shoes!!

I am looking for a good woman's shoe. My feet are on the narrow side and I have high arches. I run on cinder tracks but frequently I run on the road. I don't mind paying extra if it is worth it. So, what is the price range for good running shoes and which brands should I go for?

Answer
Check out department stores in the late fall/early winter. Last year's styles will be on sale to make room for the new models for the upcoming track and field season. You can typically get shoes that would have cost $100 or more last spring for under $50, some as cheap as $25 or $30. If you have a Kohl's near you, its a good place to start.

I typically wear Nike or ASCICS, New Balance are good as well. For the mileage you're running, a pair of running shoes will last you a very long time.

How do I make my Tennis Shoes stop squeaking?

Stacey

I have a pair of Nike Air women's running shoes which have started to squeak in the toe area of the shoe. I don't have any removable insoles or anyway to take the shoe apart, is there some way I can fix the squeak still?

Answer
Not really.

However, I recommend you get some actual tennis shoes. Running shoes have very little lateral stability, so you will have nothing supporting your ankles when you shuffle from side to side. It it really easy twist your ankle in running shoes, and depending on how fast you move, it could be a serious injury.

Tennis shoes are also designed to come to stop and change direction more easily. They almost always have a tred pattern called a "herring bone" pattern which is designed to perform on court.

Tennis shoes will increase your safety and ease your movement, and becasue they're meant for the court, they will probably squeak less too.

What is the best cross-training shoe for women?

Stephanie

I need a shoe that provides arch and lateral support as well as comfort. (Most running shoes do not provide lateral support.) I do kickboxing as well and strength training.

Any suggestions?

Answer
Running shoes were designed specifically for straight running. That means that you shouldnât wear your running shoes to participate in a sport that doesn't only include running, like soccer, basketball, or racquetball. Running shoes canât handle the lateral movements that these sports require.

Whether you walk for exercise, while vacationing, or on the job, you need a good pair of walking shoes. Walking shoes fall between running shoes and basketball shoes. They have more structure and lateral stability than a running shoe, but less than a basketball shoe. Soles vary, but most offer a wider base and less aggressive outsole for better traction on a variety of surfaces.

The other day I was driving with my daughter and she noticed that in our neighborhood people were throwing tennis shoes on the telephone wires. Why do they do that? Can someone help me explain that to her?

Answer
it's for memories and like ownership
like a location where u can do such n such
n sum people just do t cuz they thnk it's "cool"

They're a bookmark for the fascinating saga known as "street life" - one that has no ending, a lot of drama, and an endless number of characters that come and go. I have heard lots of rumors as to why shoes have been thrown around telephone lines. Some say it denotes that a murder happened in that particular location. I've also heard that it marks the spot where you can buy drugs or turn a trick. It means all of these things and none of these things. It's the only way that people on the streets (whether they live there or just do business there) can tell others where they are or where to meet them without resorting to spray paint. It can also signify that an important event (whether it's bad or good) happened there, sort of like a reminder to the person who threw the shoes up there that something important happened, and until the shoes are taken down, that person will always know exactly WHERE it happened, too. This means it could be a place where a person scored good dope or a place where a person's friend got arrested by the cops for buying dope from an undercover.

What is the interview process like for a camp counselor position?

Alexis R

I have an interview tomorrow morning at a summer camp. Does anyone know what I can expect from the interview for the camp counselor. I was told that it is going to be a group interview, they told us to wear jeans shirt, and tennis shoes. I am a bit nervous of not knowing what to expect. Im sure they are proably going to ask us question, so that they can get to know us. But do you think they are going have us demonstrate games that we would play with the children?
Thanks

Answer
good for you! I hope you get the job, I'm sure it would be a blast!

They will want to know if you HAVE any experience, I'm sure. Also, that you enjoy working with, and being with, kids.

Are you trained in any first aid? CPR, lifeguard, etc?

They will want to know that YOU are healthy and "strong" - taking hikes, etc.

They might have you demonstrate or at least have a general knowledge of "entertaining" kids - whether it's an overnight camp, and you would be "in a cabin with a bunch of them", or that you'd be in charge of a specific activity, like Crafts, Games, etc. might make a difference.

Yes, they might want to know if you know any specific games or activities to play with kids, to "use up" some free minutes in the day?

I do know some very specific excellent games for kids, at camp, one of them especially perfect for hot days, when the kids shouldn't be TOO active in high temperatures, but quietly sitting in the shade - and the kids LOVE it - - email me if you'd like to know - - my id at yahoo dot com

you will be in charge of keeping tabs on all of your charges, you may have to come up with an original way to identify them, (unusual or crafty name tags, a special "roll call" game, etc)
You will also want to implement some kind of "buddy system" with your group of kids, so that they are ALWAYS together, and that you know where every one of them is at, at all times.

Whatever activities are planned, as part of the camp's day, you will have to learn the layout of the camp, how to get from one place to another, obviously, what the meal schedules are, etc. as well as dealing with homesickness, sadness, and "left-outed-ness".

good luck

Okay, I've been listening to this one radio station since some time in November. It's 96.1 WEJZ, Jacksonville's (FL) #1 holiday music station. I just heard this song that they haven't played since some time in November and I love the song, but I have absolutely no idea what the name of it is or who it's by. Does anyone recognize the chorus? :

Mister will you buy these shoes,
For my mama please,
She's been sick a while,
And I know these shoes will make her smile,

These shoes are just her size,
And I want her to look beautiful,
if she goes to meet Jesus tonight.

********************************************************
Those aren't the exact lyrics, and I kind of messed them up in the middle, but that's all I can remember. Please answer with the artist name, song name, and possibly the lyrics too.

Thanks!
Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Happy Kwanzaa! And happy all other holidays!

Answer
It was almost Christmas time
There I stood in another line
Trying to buy that last gift or two
Not really in the Christmas mood
Standing right in front of me
Was a little boy waiting anxiously
Pacing around like little boys do
And in his hands he held
A pair of shoes

And his clothes were worn and old
He was dirty from head to toe
And when it came his time to pay
I couldn't believe what I heard him say

Sir I wanna buy these shoes for my Momma please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry Sir?
Daddy says there's not much time
You see, she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes will make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful
If Momma meets Jesus, tonight.

He counted pennies for what seem like years
And cashier says son there's not enough here
He searched his pockets franticly
And he turned and he looked at me
He said Momma made Christmas good at our house
Though most years she just did without
Tell me Sir
What am I gonna do?
Some how Iâve got to buy her these Christmas shoes

So I layed the money down
I just had to help him out
And I'll never forget
The look on his face
When he said Momma's gonna look so great.

Sir I wanna buy these shoes, for my Momma please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry Sir?
Daddy says there's not much time
You see, she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes will make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful,
If Momma meets Jesus tonight.

I knew I caught a glimpse of heavens love as he thanked me and ran out.
I know that God had sent that little boy to remind me
What Christmas is all about

Sir I wanna buy these shoes for my Momma please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry Sir?
Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes will make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful
If Momma meets Jesus tonight

I want her to look beautiful
If Momma meets Jesus tonight

So there is this pair of Adidas guys shoes that are awesome. I'm not sure what size to get, because I'm a girl. I'm pretty sure my feet aren't going to grow anymore. I am a women's shoe size 12. On the website it says women's 12 goes to men's 11, but I always learned that it was 12 to 10.5. And they don't have 11, so should I get 10.5 or 11.5?

Answer
Well, try getting the 11, if not get the 11.5.

TRUST ME, TRUST ME! Adidas run really really small... and I have uhmmm, like HUUGE feet for a guy. Size 16-17. I'm not joking, I literally need 18s in adidas! I found a pair one time at a Ross of all places, classic black and white ones. They fit fine, just a slight space at the tip, but perfect otherwise.

10.5 guys if you are 12 womens in Adidas will be really small. Btw, it's nice to see a girl not be all in a nervous wreck about asking if she needs 11 or 11.5 mens shoes... I'm a guy but we both should be proud of the size of our feet and shoes!! Good luck.

BROOKS RUNNING SHOES?

if i wear a size 13 in womens brook shoe what size is that in brooks mens shoes

Answer
If you are a size 13 in Brooks women's shoes then you are a size 11.5 in Brooks men's shoes.
A size 13 in Brooks is 29.5 cm in the toe to heel measurement and compared to Brooks men's shoes these fit a size 11.5. Hope this helps :)

I have very flat feet (very flat arches) and very long, narrow feet. I have always had a problem finding secure running shoes that support my arches into the correct position, and are snug around my entire foot.

I have knee problems because of this, so a good running shoe will help prevent furthur injury to my knees and feet.

Do you know of any running shoes that specilise in shoes for flat footed runners?

Answer
You need in insert to correct your flat feet, either something off the self or made by a foot doctor.
New Balance makes shoes with widths just like street shoes so you can find your size in that brand.

Can you get blisters from over used running shoes?

sn

I've put about 1000 or maybe more miles on these pair of running shoes. I know it's time to get new ones but is it possible to get blisters from over used running shoes? However, I haven't got blisters from these shoes yet.

Answer
oh dear, you should only put in 300-500 miles per pair of running shoes. you can get blisters if you wear the wrong socks or if they're tight. but since they're overused, your shoes must be pretty flat and spacey.

over used running shoes can also give you shin splints, bad support, knee problems, IT band problems, hip problems, etc.

get new shoes!

Answer
Asics. I am in love with Asics. They are stylish, unbelievably comfortable for any activity including high impact ones, and affordable. I have worn them for years and have 3 pair standing by for when my current ones wear out.
