Would Basketball Shoes be good for Running a Mile on a track for School?

Alex

Im planning to buy some Jordans Super Flys, or Jordan AJ 2012 Lite so i can play basketball AND be able to run a mile For School ( P.E ) and its on a track! I've read something that basketball shoes arent good for running because you wouldn't be running on a flat surface but since its a track wouldn't that be the exception? Also i read that basketball shoes are too heavy, i saw some running shoes that were 18 oz and the shoes i want are around 12. So Would some Jordan Basketball shoes ( Jordan AJ 2012 Lite ) be good for running a mile for school? Thank you so much!

Answer
if you're just in pe who cares.. but if you run outside of just that then no, don't get those.

Let's just put it this way: I do not want to buy a nike running shoe that came out in 2012.

Answer
That certainly should not be the way you choose your footwear. The flashiest shoes might not fit you correctly and you will only succeed in injuring yourself somewhere along the season. In addition Nike shoes generally are not regarded as a good performance shoe company for running. I suggest Asics, Brooks, or Oasis.

What shoes should i get for warming up in track next season? Do i even need them?

Therspker

Nike LIVESTRONG LunarElite+ 2 Men's Running Shoe I just bought these for conditioning and just getting ready for track next year but my mom keeps telling me that since these are $80, i should go buy some cheap new balance or asics for training. what do you guys think?

Answer
If you are just using them to warm up, I agree with your mother.

Asqe Pokie

I have been a strong supinator my whole life - I have years of shoes worn on the outside to attest to that. I'm getting into walking as a fitness regimen.
Thanks

Answer
Go to a running shoe store and say you want running shoes, period. They should have you run in a shoe to see how you run, which would indicate what type of shoe you need. Once they have an idea of what you need they should pull out several models and have you try them for comfort, have you put both pairs on and jog around the store to see which you like best. They should be half a size to a full size larger than your street shoes. If you go to a shoe store and they don't ask to see you run first thing to get an idea of your needs, find another store.
Good luck!

anyone recommend good running shoes for supination or underpronation?

Lady Cadil

are asics nimbus 11 okay?

what else would you recommend ? thanks.
i'm looking for SHOES. i've already got inserts.

Answer
You'd normally be looking for a heavily cushioned neutral shoe, but exactly what you do can vary depending on your individual specifics like arch height, etc.

You should get fitted in a running specialty shop, and actually try things on once they narrow them down for you.

Yes, something like the Asics Nimbus or Nike Vomero would be common, but you shouldn't try to figure it out yourself.

I want to know the best time and info on traveling to Europe?

best walking shoes european travel image

johnsons84

What are the best months to travel to Europe, would june july or august be good? Is it best to stay in Hostels and save money? I am a student wanting to see Europe, most as I can... How long do I need to be there to see a vast majority of the best parts? What are some must see sites and cities? How much money should one bring (estimate) and any other tid bits of info could really go a long way..

Thanks for your time and answers to all.

Answer
May, June and September will not be as crowded, and cheaper, as July and August are the height of the tourist season when most of the Europeans also go on holiday.
The rest of the year is also very well possible, the cheapest fares are likely between the mid January and April, and maybe October-November.

At this time you will need about â¬75 per day, ($US 100) when you stay in hostels and do your own cooking, this will allow you some money for sightseeing and drinking and to pay for your train tickets when here.
You can do it a little cheaper if you do not spend much money on being a tourist, also when you go to the countries that have been communist in the past.
An other way to save money is not to stay in hostels but to stay in peoples homes, you can get contact through couch surfing sites:
http://www.couchsurfing.com/
http://www.hospitalityclub.org/
I have never done it, but people who travel that way say they really enjoy it.
Otherwise hostels are a good cheap choice, camping, while possible is not as easy when you travel by bus or train.
In July and August most hostels fill up 100% and you might have to book ahead or find other places to stay.
But even then the hostels out of town near the Capital cities still have some space, most of the time so be flexible.

How long you need?
Many Europeans spend all their holidays in their lifetime in Europe and I never heard anybody claim that he has been everywhere.
In a month you can get an impression of Europe, in but a longer time will be better.

Do not try to rush from highlight to highlight but take your time to really get to know a country. Spend a week in its capital city, but also a few days in a smaller town and a village, visiting National parks is almost always good.
Many countries will need more than 2 weeks to see them properly (only small states like Luxembourg or Monaco you can do in that time,)
but it will stay in your memory.
If you have one month do not try to really see more than 3 countries, in 2 months 6 to 8.

And pack light.
Bring as little as you can get away with. In summer that is one pair of jeans, 2 shorts, (or 2 jeans) a handful of T-shirts, a sweater, a jacket and underwear for a week or two.
Shoes you can walk in all day everyday, and a second pair to change into at night and for emergencies, or only bathroom use.
And bring enough socks too.
You will need to do laundry, but whatever you bring you will always have to do laundry.
Keep space in your pack for a couple of new T-shirts, (great souvenirs and very useful,) and save on washing a few days.

Just before setting off you should get the newest version of a good guidebook, I prefer the Lonely Planet series, but as said, right now would be a good time to get a couple of travel guides from the library or a secondhand bookshop.

And read the older questions here, there is a lot of information already, as questions like this come up often. I think that only in this hour 3 questions have been posted that might be of help to you.

How do I go about looking SEXY this summer when travelling abroad?

Hope

Going to France for a week for summer abroad, but would like to look sexy and stand out, not your average typical 19 year old girl.

I already wear make-up (foundation, some eyeliner, mascara), and wear my hair (medium-long) straight.

- What clothes should I buy/bring? Specifics would be helpful.
- Shoes?
- Hairstyles?

Thanks so much! All answers will be read and 10 points for best.

Answer
Short heels (2"). European cities are more for walking, so you want to be comfortable. Do not wear flip-flops unless you will be on the beach. Flip-flops are definitely not out-of-the-house footwear in France. Espadrilles are always a great choice for open footwear.

Wear sun dresses. They are nice and feminine.

Maybe one or two pairs of skinny jeans.

Bright-colored clothing definitely.

Some jewelery, but not a lot. Gold hoops are usually an easy win.

As for your hair, no need to go crazy. Even a chignon or a sleek ponytail will do.

I'm so excited for you. I miss France so badly! Have an awesome time!

Which city/-ies will you visit?

I am interested in this model because the look and lacing. I do plan on doing some running in them. Are the comfortable? Would it hurt my mild case of achilles tendinitis? Thanks!

Answer
I like running in them about once a week. I do not know if it will be bad for your feet. It is supposed to help your form though.

what is the difference between shin splints and stress fractures?

Q. Im a senior in high school who started running cross country this year. Im a swimmer so running is pretty new to me. i had to take off a few weeks earlier in the season due to achilles tendonitis and now i have pain throughout my entire lower leg area. It hurts to sit on my feet while bending my legs in front of me and the pain i get after running a mile is excruciating.

Answer
Stress fracture pain is more localized and often runs parallel to the ground when standing. Shin splint pain runs perpendicular to the ground, and runs up the lower leg along the inside of the tibia (shin). They both have very similar symptoms, but instead of a fracture, shin splits are the result of inflammation of the sheath surrounding the bone tissue. Both are the result of the same thing, too much running without recovery. Or you did not do conditioning before you started cross country. You're going to need special souls in your shoes, a better form for running, and a lot of icing. That or allow recovery time between running days. If it is a fracture it will not heal if you continue running.

I just recently started exercising and need a good shoe! I have a wide foot and high arch. Help!?

best tennis shoes zumba

best tennis shoes zumba image

Karen

When I exercise my toes go numb. I have tried, Nike, reebok, nothing works. I don't want to keep spending money until I get suggestions from others with the same problems. I don't need running shoes, I mainly do Zumba, the elliptical, and stationary bike! Help!!!

Answer
Your problem is very common for people with a high arch.

Unfortunately, the running community is self-selecting; the activity is easier for people with a low arch, and shoe manufacturers are happy to go with a majority requirement that makes production easier. Running shoes are more profitable if you don't have to invest in a large number of 'lasts' for different shapes of feet.

What you need to look for are 'cross-training' shoes. These are not made for running, and became popular in the 1980s when a lot of people with 'dancer's feet' (high arch, easy to point, and easy to train for strength in pointe work) started to take up the early styles of aerobic fitness classes. Some sports, such as Tennis, are more easily played in a shoe of this shape; the springy high-arched foot is good at changing direction rapidly, and these shoes support that type of movement.

As other types of more extreme class took over the market, the shoes became less important, but they are still made, often as a specialised 'wide-fit' commodity. In reality, they are NOT wide-fitting, but because your high arch produces a shortened footprint, your normal foot width seems overly wide for the shoe size that fits your length of foot.

Sometimes, a regular-shaped pair of shoes will adapt to the shape of a high-arched foot if the right shape of 'arch cookie' is fitted to the insole.

Try websearching 'wide-fitting shoes' or 'sport-specific tennis shoes'.

Questions about starting Zumba!?

spot26

I'm thinking about trying a free Zumba class, but I'm SO nervous. I'm really not in shape at all (unless you're one of those people that counts "round" as a shape), so I'm concerned that I won't be able to keep up. Has anybody out there been in that position before? How did you deal with it?

Couple of other questions:
- I've heard that you should wear dance or cross-trainer shoes. Is it ok to wear regular tennis shoes for my first class? (no time to go buy new shoes before tomorrow morning!)
- What kind of clothes should I wear?
- What all do I need to bring with me?
- Any other info you have on your personal experience with Zumba would be a great help!

Thanks!

Answer
-You can wear tennis shoes for the first couple of lessons and then ask your instructor what she prefers. Se might just say tennis shoes are fine.
-Wear good shoes. Wear a shirt,t shirt, and sweat pants. Depending in what you feel most comfy, you can wear right or little loose.
-Definitely brim water. At least one bottle for every 45 mins you're there. Also bring a towel if youd like. Oh and some like to take those "coins" you wrap around your waist that make noise.
-it's an awesome in way to lose weight and get in shape! Been doing his for half a year and I'm noticeably different.

Actually, I have had my current running shoes for 7 months only and they feel fine but I am training for a marathon so I dont know if I should just go ahead and change shoes now just in case. No current problems with the shoes I have now but of course I am worried that they may be worn out by the marathon which is still a month and a half away.

Answer
Not really.
First of all, if you've trained in the same pair of running shoes, they may very well be worn out by the time you get to the Marathon. Thus, if you start using a new pair a month ahead of time, they will be properly broken in by the time Marathon Day arrives.
Remember that old shoes will not have the same foot protection as newer ones. When running 26.2 miles, you NEED that protection!

As a rule, running shoes are generally worn out by the time they reach 500 miles. It is not worth the risk to run a marathon in shoes that are 500 miles old.

By the way, which marathon are you planning to run?

Good luck, and good running!

What features should I look for in good running shoes?

numbersnum

I'm planning on running a marathon next year, and wondering what features I should be looking for in a pair of running shoes to best suit the role, e.g. flexibility, materials?

I want my feet to be comfortable, even while running on hard surfaces like tarmac and concrete.

Price isn't really a concern - I'd be willing to pay upwards of 100 euro, or 140 dollars for a decent pair of shoes.

Answer
go to a good running shoe store. Try on different shoes until you find a pair that fits your foot.
All major brands make good shoes. Be sure you get a shoe that is made for your size and weight, has enough cushion and support.
You should get about 500 miles out of a new pair, but it is best to own a couple of pair so you do not wear the same shoes all of the time.
Get at least 2 pair and swap out every few days.
You will need a different pair for the race, which will be a lighter shoe.

I'm looking for shoes for playing tennis that will be lightweight, but also durable and help me avoid shin splints and knee pain. Any suggestions?

Answer
asics are always a decent choice. Brooks brand are well made, and I recently am trying Minzuno, which I havent tried for years but I like them. I usually pay $100 for a pair of shoes...I use them all the time, for running, and they hold up well...for about 6 months (I run marathons once a year). If you pay cheap...you get cheap.

Can anyone give me some tips on running properly to avoid shin splints?

HERMES

Please be specific on how I should take my steps. What's the proper way when my feet touch the ground? I know that I'm doing something wrong because my shins hurt everytime I jog. I have my running shoes for about 1.5 year, but I'm using shock absorber insoles.

Answer
Make sure you warm up well first. And try getting a new pair of shoes. I've been told that although the shoe may still look great, after a year the support tends to wear down - you just don't see it.

Here is some info I pulled off off the web for you. Hope it helps:

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Apart from good footwear, what else can you do? I believe the following three preventative measures are not only very effective, but crucial.

Firstly, a thorough and correct warm up will help to prepare the muscles and tendons for any activity to come. Without a proper warm up the muscles and tendons will be tight and stiff. There will be limited blood flow to the lower legs, which will result in a lack of oxygen and nutrients for those muscles.

Before any activity be sure to thoroughly warm up all the muscles and tendons that will be used during your sport or activity. Click here for a detailed explanation of how, why and when to perform your warm up.

Secondly, flexible muscles are extremely important in the prevention of most lower leg injuries. When muscles and tendons are flexible and supple, they are able to move and perform without being over stretched. If however, your muscles and tendons are tight and stiff, it is quite easy for those muscles and tendons to be pushed beyond their natural range of movement. To keep your muscles and tendons flexible and supple, it is important to undertake a structured stretching routine.

Stretching HandbookStretching is one of the most under-utilized techniques for improving athletic performance, preventing sports injury and properly rehabilitating sprain and strain injury. Don't make the mistake of thinking that something as simple as stretching won't be effective.

For an easy-to-use, quick reference guide of more than 100 clear photographs of every possible stretch, for every major muscle group in your body, get a copy of The Stretching Handbook. You'll also learn the benefits of flexibility; the rules for safe stretching; and how to stretch properly. Click here to learn more about The Stretching Handbook.

And thirdly, strengthening and conditioning the muscles of the lower leg will also help to prevent shin splints. There are a number of specific strengthening exercises you can do for these muscles, but instead of me going into the details here, I have simply found another web site that has already done all the hard work. It explains a number of exercises you can do for preventing shin splints. You can find these strengthening exercises by going to http://www.watfxc.com/TF/TF%20Education/shin_splints.htm.

The above-mentioned article is the only other article I found that included a comprehensive section on shin splint prevention. If you're only interested in the strengthening exercises, you'll find them towards the end of the article. If however, you suffer from shin splints or you're looking for more information on shin splints, I recommend you read the entire article.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

* Rest. The sooner you rest the sooner it will heal.
* Apply ice or cold therapy in the early stages when it is very painful. Cold therapy reduces pain and inflammation. Cold therapy can be applied. More information about cryotherapy or ice application can be see in shin splints rehabilitation. Click for more detailed information about cold therapy.
* Wear shock absorbing insoles in shoes.
* Maintain fitness with other non weight bearing exercises.
* Apply heat and use a heat retainer or shin and calf support after the initial acute stage and particularly before training. This can provide support and compression to the lower leg helping to reduce the strain on the muscles. It will also retain the bodies natural heat. Heat causes blood vessels to dilate and increases the flow of blood to the tissues.
* Visit a sports injury clinic for treatment and rehabilitation.

Claire Bea

I'm playing volleyball for the first time and I'm not sure of what volleyball shoes are exactly. So can anyone explain to me the difference and tell me whether I can use regular athletic shoes or running shoes instead?

Answer
volleyball shoes r made specifically for volleyball: it has good traction and grip. it is also very light weight for quick movement. usually it has a flat bottom part while running shoes have elevated shocks when you jump hurdles and stuff.
running shoes: are light weight but are made for running. in volleyball you dont run too much so running shoes arent realy built for volleyball.

if your new to volleyball i suggest buying running shoes bcuz there really is any need to spend more money for volleyball shoes when running shoes can be used for more than one activity. running shoes are also cheaper. but if your an experienced volleyball player i suggest volleyball shoes if you are commited to the sport.

What would be the best adhesive to glue a sole back on an athletic shoe?

weakestlin

The last several pairs of athletic shoes I've purchased, the back sole separates from the shoe after wearing for a few weeks. I've tried rubber cement, fixture adhesive and silicone caulk. None of these work. Any suggestions?

Answer
The best glue is something called "Goop" Make sure you clean the rubber parts with a solvent. An alcohol will work, but so will something stronger like acetone (don't use too much or your shoe will dissolve). Clamp the parts together for 24 hours - a regular clamp is best but a couple of boards wrapped together with rope will work too.

All runners who compete need a closing kick. So, learning the proper technique to sprinting 100m with standing starts is very helpful.

A better 100m run â form and technique will get you there. - ptfa.geo answer:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100702191734AAczh6q

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

After that, distances will shape your mindset on improving your speed. You have to find suitable techniques, to your style of running to achieve faster running times.

Running Technique Keys:

Faster Running in General:
Running faster requires - either, a higher out put of leg rotation or running on your toes or both. Pumping your elbows to the back harder and faster is the key to getting a higher leg rotation. However, XC runners should stay away from being too high on their toes - risk of twisting an ankle is too great.

A racing shoe that properly fits your foot and used for race purpose only, will enhance your speed. Placing a thin insole in your racing shoe makes your racing shoe feel very comfortable for running in without soaks. Replace the insoles when they begin to show signs of wear or when they are flat in your impact area. They can be bought in some grocery stores.

Faster 100m -
requires 100% application of arms and legs at a maximum output rate.

Faster 200m (curve) -
requires special lean techniques for running the curve at top speed. The straight lean for wide curves and the "T" Torque for tight curves are the dormant lean styles. Application of the 100m running technique is used for the straight.

Faster 400m -
requires strategy, stamina, cursing power and a burst of closing kick energy. Having enough energy to close strong is the key.

Faster Speed For Races Greater than 400m -
requires strategy, higher leg rotation endurance, cursing power, body ventilation and relaxation skills, an on-and-off valve for generating power with your arms and, a final burst of closing kick energy. Having enough energy to close strong is the key. (Your technique is knowing when to use these essentials.)

Faster Hurdles:

Requirement:
One needs to have an ability to go air born in a balanced manner and then return to earth by hitting the ground running.

The secrete to hurdlers' speed is in; the placement of their starting blocks, the rhythm in their running between hurdles, the use of their arms, the placement of their lead leg after clearing the hurdle and, the methods needed to close out the last four hurdles.

The hurdle heights for high schools are:
American Girls - 30 inches and 33 inches
American Boys - 36 inches and 39 inches

The hurdle heights for college and open divisions are:
American Women - 30 inches and 33 inches
American Men - 36 inches and 42 inches

Faster Race Walking:

Requires:
Sustained pressure on the hip joints. One must have an ability to keep one foot on the ground at all times while walking forward after locking the knee joint. Power swings with the elbow in conjunction with accentuated hip swivel provides the power behind speed walking.

In that order, but again you have to understand what type of feet you have and are you a pronator or udnerpronator, so don't go by what brand is the best, but go by what feels the most comfortable with the most support for your.

What are the best shoes for runners?

Beth

I run every day, and it is really doing a number on my knees and ankles. Right now I am wearing a pair of old nike shoes, but I don't think they were made for running. What women's shoes are the best for long distance runners? I want them to be durable, comfortable, offer stability, and be shock absorbing.

Answer
Alright you can try to figure this out on your own. I have come to the conclusion that I am a minimalist runner. This means that when I go to have my foot land on the ground, my heal barely or never touches the ground. You need someone, friend, family member or anyone and have them watch your feet when you run by or run on a treadmill. If you land on your heal, you will want to get some heavier training shoes with the brand of shoe's technology to soft striking in the back. And if your not, minimalist shoes are cheaper, and lighter. Next, check for pronation or subornation. This is where your foot rolls to the left or to the right as it strikes the ground. If the outside of your foot strikes the ground first, then rolls inward, you have subornation. If it lands on the insides of your feet, and rolls out, then you have pronation. Now, if you have subornation, shoe choice doesn't really matter. You could use arch support or you could ditch it. If you have pronation, arch support is pretty much a must, as if you don't, the arch in your foot will get sore and make you want to stop running. If your foot does neither, lucky you, you can pretty much pick any running shoe you want. Now if you have subornation, i would recommend a shoes that has flexibility, and cushion. If you have pronation, you want a shoe with arch support and not too much flexibility. and If your neither, just find a comfortable shoe that feels right on the arch as well. here is a list of shoes for you to try out or look into:
Subornation; Saucony progrid ride 4, Adidas supernova glide 3, Nike zoom vomero 6, Nike air pegasus +28, Asics gel nimbus 13, or Brooks ghost 4.
Pronation: Saucony progrid paramount 2, Saucony progrid Hurricane 13, Nike zoom Equalon +4, Nike Lunareclipse+, Adidas Supernova Sequence 3, Asics gel Kayano 17, asics gel 3030, or brooks trance 10.
Neutral: Pretty much any shoe that feels good.
The minimalist form( landing on your midfoot to forefoot, not on the heal): Saucony kinvara 2, Saucony mirage, Nike free series, Adidas climacool, Asics Gel speedstar 5, Asics gel ds sky speed 2, and if you want to become a minimalist runner, your best way to switch is to go with a pair of newtons. I would suggest the first pair of newtons for you to buy would be the sir isaac's. perfect newtons to make the transition with. And totally worth it, i went from a guy with moderate pronation to none at all and my form has inproved dramatically. and you don't have to stick with the newtons, I am running in Saucony kinvaras, and mirages. Best minimalist shoes in my opinion. Good luck)

What's the difference in how kid' and adult's sneakers are made?

Kapalu

I want to buy my girlfriend running shoes. She has small feet and I noticed kids shoes are cheaper. According to Asics Amazon guide she wears size 5 UK and size 7 US. What size kid's shoes would she fit?

Answer
You need to have her feet measured to know what size she wears. It would be best if she could try them on to make sure they feel right.
If a child's size fits she can certainly wear it.

I'm planning on taking a 10-day trip to NYC in exactly one year. How much money would I need to save besides plane and hostel costs? I'm not much of a shopper, I'd mostly do the museums and that kind of stuff. Also, any tips for saving money on my trip?

Answer
I lived in New York City for 42 years and base on the prices now you should have at least $150. - $250. per day ( doesn't include hotel which runs about $200. per night and up ). Here are some examples of prices .

Statue of Liberty - $10.
Metropolitan Museum of Art - $15.
Rose Center for Earth & Space -$10. , Space Show - $22.
United Nation - $11.50
Intrepid Museum - $17.50
Shark - $16.

You can always go to - www.nyctourist.com , www.newyorkcitypass.com or www.cityguidemagazine.com .

There are pently of web sites that can give you information of places to go and their prices .

YOU CAN PURCHASE A 7 DAY UNLIMITED METRO CARD FOR $24 & THE 1 DAY FUN PASS FOR $7. PER DAY TO RIDE THE MTA BUSES AND SUBWAY . YOU CAN ALSO GO TO -WWW.MTA.INFO - TO PRINT OUT A MAP OF THE CITY BUS AND TRAIN ROUTES .

GOOD NEWS !! there is no tax on clothes and shoes .

What're the running shoes that look like feet?

KorndawgD2

I was in NYC a few months ago and went into a sports store and saw shoes that look like feet!! One of the guys I was with, who's a runner, said that they were the newest, hottest things for runners. Anyone have any idea what they're call or if you've even heard on them??

Answer
Vibram Five Fingers. But beware because if you have the wrong type of foot they could injure you severely. But if you have the right type of foot you will be one cool dude running in them. People will be so jealous.
I believe that they have ones for other things than running also.

1. Your nose is going to grow.
2. Johnny angel.
3. I don't want to spoil the party.
4. Lipstick on your collar.
5. Some of these days.
6. Love on the rocks.

Answer
Third time's the charm, I thought to myself, as I shuffled into Dodge one autumn evening, still looking for my best gal Chantilly Lace. I walked into the bar, and how was I to know there was a party going on?

"No milk today," repeated the bartender, as soon as he saw me come in.

"Well, I don't want to spoil the party," I replied. "Pour me a shot o' Love on the Rocks."

"It's my party and I'll cry if I want to," Miss Kitty said. She took hold of my arm. "Say, you got some lipstick on your collar." She dabbed a hanky at my neck.

"Yes, ma'am, it sure is, from kissin' and a huggin' with Hayden Panettiere," I said.

"Your nose is going to grow, Pinocchio," said Miss Kitty. "That's a blood stain, you got it from shavin' this morning, dinchoo."

"The shaving razor's cold and it stings," I shrugged.

Her eyes moved about the noisy, smoky room. Why, there was Miss Sunshine, dancing with US Marshall Matt Dillon. Even Judy was dancing, with her favorite guy Johnny Angel. I always thought Johnny looked like a caveman, but I guess Judy must have liked them, um, rugged.

"Still looking out for Chantilly?" asked Miss Kitty.

"Yep," I said. "She's my girl, I will follow her, follow here wherever she may go, ain't no mountain high enough to keep me away."

"Poor wandering one," she said.

"That's me, they call me the wanderer." I looked at the clock. "They also call me the sixty minute man, and I've been here long enough to see Chantilly, well, she's not there. I'd best be moseyin', if'n you don't mind, ma'am, but I gotta run."

I jumped through the window (I've had a lot of practice doing that lately, still avoiding Bad Man Jose), saddled up, and before too long, I'll find myself in another town that I'll go walking through, with the rain in my shoes. Some of these days, it just don't pay to get up in the mornin'. Ask me again tomorrow, maybe Chantilly and me'll be together, and love will keep us together.

Guys, Have you ever tried on your girlfriends or sisters UGG boots?

nicksparco

What did you think?
Did you like how they felt?
What did you do while you were wearing them? (I see alot of vids on youtube of boys skateboarding in UGGs)
Would you buy a pair for yourself? The classic short UGGs are for men/boys
What did your girlfriend think?

Answer
Well, I'm a girl, but my two cousins (who are boys) and even my uncle tried UGGs, and here were their responses:

Cousin 1: He thought the style was a bit too bulky and heavy, but the insides were very comfortable and soft. When my cousin was wearing them, he was in the park and we traded boots so he just ran a little bit in them. He says that he wouldn't buy them, he would just stick to tennis shoes.

Cousin 2: He thought that they actually looked cool, he felt like he was a caveman, lol. And he skateboarded in them too, he tripped on the toe however...He said he would only buy them for home, like slippers.

Uncle: Ownes a pair, loves them. My aunt thought that it looks good on him, he's comfortable, uses them when indoors, not outdoors, he want's to keep them in good condition.

Why does my toe joint hurt?

bettyt

The joint of my big toe hurts when I run, why would this be? I've just started running more frequently training for a half marathon and the joint starts to hurt whe i run and then afterwards for some time. Is there anything I can do to stop this?

Answer
If it continues to be a problem, have a podiatrist check it out. I think, it could be inflammation, perhaps icing after you run, maybe some anti inflammatory meds (ie ibuprofen, alleve). As the previous person suggested, check your shoes out to make sure they are not contributing to the problem. I had something similiar but not on my big toe, it was like the middle toe....I think it was called capsulitis.

It you were a man, could be a woman too, but most likely a man...and the symptoms are achy, and redness around the big toe joint. The redness would also have a feverish feel and it is painful...then it would be gout. Then you would definitely need to see a podiatrist. Gout is a condition where the uric levels are high....the dr has to do a blood test.

I want to open a running shoe store. I will start as an oline retailer with the hope to open a neighborhood store soon. I am looking to buy shoes from 1 company who already has relationships with all of the running shoe stores. What companies do this. I've been searching on-line and cant find anything.

Answer
contact a store in Jackson, Michigan called Step One. They have been in the exact business you are asking about. I don't have the phone number, but they probably have a web site. They are experts and have been in business for over 25 years.

How often do you need to buy new running shoes?

Aaron S

I run about 15 miles a week. The running shoe store would like me to buy them every 6 months, of course their business is selling shoes.

Answer
every 6 months, or until they get so worn out they injure your legs

What is meant by 8M in terms of shoe size?

I'm looking at shoes online. Specifically, Adidas women's running shoes. There are shoe size numbers, and there are letters next to them. I know they have to do with width. But what does "M" mean? The other letter they have is "D". Is "M" wide or what?

Thanks so much, I want to buy these soon!

Answer
The standard women's width is B, and the standard men's width is D.

A women's wide width is a D, and a men's wide width is EE (or EEEE).

Every now and then you'll stumble across someplace that calls the standard "medium."

It would help to see the specific site listing things with M, but I'd normally assume the M stands for Medium -- the standard width -- and in women's shoes, the D is the wide.

If you can find the same shoes at another online site, you should be able to confirm the widths available, but in women's shoes the D--not whatever M is--would definitely be the wide size.

Where can I get 2E width shoes like Nike and such?
