Im 15 and do cross country and have been reading a lot lately about barefoot running. Should i just ditch the running shoes and go barefoot.
If so how would i be able to do this barefoot thing...techniques and advice.

Answer
Yes. I would suggest running barefoot because it is more natural and you will have a much longer running career due to less injuries. There are a lot of common misconceptions about barefoot running that you need to understand, first. Running barefoot, one would assume that you are going to step on nails or glass and hurt yourself. The reality is that you will naturally be much, much, more alert running barefoot and you will be looking where you are going to make sure you do not step on something that will hurt you. Another misconception is that barefoot running should not be attempted on hard surfaces because you can injure yourself. This is false and hard surfaces are where you need to be training. They are clean so you can see where you are stepping easily, and they are hard, so you need to run with the correct form, landing with a midfoot strike, rather than heel strike. The other major misconception about barefoot running is that you can not run as fast. This is true for short distances, but for longer distances, you don't lose any speed. If you want to start barefoot running you need to build up to longer distances, slowly, while you condition the bottom of your feet to different, abrasive surfaces. For more information you should read the runnersworld.com forum on barefoot running.

Is it bad to switch running shoes every day?

I have about 3 pairs of running shoes that I currently own. Two are normal shoes and one is a pair that is supposed to simulate barefoot running, and they feel pretty cool. I like them all, and I was wondering if it would be detrimental to be switching from one pair to another every day or every other day..? I have been doing it for about a week now, and I feel fine, in fact I think wearing the "barefoot" shoes helps me have a better footfall with my traditional running shoes.

Answer
I think you should switch shoes, may be not everyday, but often. If you only wear the same pair until they need replacing then your body has adapted to the wear pattern in the shoes, and when you start using new shoes you could have some problems.
By using different shoes you are preventing your body from developing a stanch that could lead to trouble.
