The area around my right knee has been hurting lately, only when I lay down though when I go to sleep. It's never done this before its been going on for about two weeks or so and the pain is really noticeable when I lay on my side and when I stretch after I notice the pain it starts to hurt even more. But only when I lay down not when I'm standing up or walking or doing activities through the day. Why is this and what can I do to make it go away?

Answer
Nature of knee pain problems may vary with age. Illnesses like Patellar tendonitis, Osgood-Schlatter are normal among teenagers causing serious pain. Elderly people usually suffer from pain because of diseases like gout arthritis and arthritis. There are certain actions that put great stress on feet. Snowboarding, football, riding a bike, leaps and running are few of them. People doing such actions are at dangerous of complicated mixed accidents resulting in serious pain. Having an harm in mixed creates it more susceptible to future accidents.

Knee pain can be managed and avoided by preventing accidents and taking some easy actions. Managing body weight decreases opportunities of having a pain other in addition to improving your appearance. It is necessary to wear good shoes that provides support and creates you feel. Such shoes decrease opportunities of mixed accidents. Heating up your muscular mass is necessary before starting any exercise or game. Stretch muscular mass at front and rear of your feet for lowering stress on your muscular.

Strengthening your leg muscular mass allows in preventing pain. This can be done by muscle developing. However, all types of muscle developing should be done under expert support. Simple exercises, like walking, running and running, allows in increasing flexibility of mixed muscular mass reducing opportunities of mixed accidents and pain. It is not suitable to boost with extreme and high-impact exercises. Progressively create up and maintain a level of durability under proper support to get decrease from pain.

Aren't humans evolving for the worse now that we keep the weak alive and do everything for comfort?

Example: Before people wore shoes the human feet were much stronger with thicker bones and tougher skin as shown by ancient human feet fossils. Ever since humans have been wearing shoes their feet have became much weaker. That is one way how evolution works.

Answer
Yes there's been the wholesale loss of "robust" forms in humanity. We've all become a somewhat neotenic gracile species.

#"Worse" and "Better" are relative concepts invented by us. With evolution it's all about efficiency, sifting through the DNA changes that are beneficial to survival of the population and those that are a liability. All components of your morphology have a resource cost, and if you don't use it, then it atrophies and is gradually removed. If that makes us less able to run or jump etc. over thousands of years, then it's bad luck on us for not needing more of those activities demonstrating them to be essential to survival and procreation! Personally I haven't needed to run fast to impress a woman recently. Have you?

Another area of shrinkage is in the mouth. Our teeth are smaller than they were even 10,000 years ago, let alone 100,000. That's the result of our diet of cooked softened food. Elsewhere in the body work is still going on in the spine, hips and the knees which still haven't finished adapting to bipedalism yet, hence why back troubles and bad knees are the bane of the elderly.

Humans have been keeping the "weak" alive for as long as our species has existed. It's highly misleading to think of protecting the less fortunate in society as a new activity because it most certainly is not.
It must be remembered that homo-sapiens evolved already being the dominant apex predator. Our proto-human ancestors such as Ergaster and Heidelbergensis were already tool users and advanced hunters with complex inter-tribal relationships. We see examples of altrusim and caring for the weak in fossils from before we modern homo-sapiens were around. In some examples they were keeping the elderly in their tribes alive by chewing their food for them when their teeth fell out, Some other specimens had appalling wounds on their bodies which would have rendered them helpless for months whilst they healed and their tribe protected them. Some old members would have been crippled from arthritis and would have needed to be carried or supported by another.
All we are now doing is continuing to behave in a manner that our distant ancestors did. Humans have a society wide strategy on survival and that means protecting our society as much as ourselves.

It's going to be interesting seeing where we evolve to next (and we are going to continue evolving). and our current lifestyles will play a role in the form we take. I doubt we'll end up looking like the Mekon as scifi used to believe http://www.dandare.org/dan/aliens/mekon/mekon08.jpg but I do imagine us less athletic but with amazing hand-eye coordination.
