Answer
Freshen Smelly Shoes

Things Youâll Need:

Odor Remover With Enzymes Or Bacteria
Baking Soda Or Shoe Odor Products
Odor-controlling Insoles
Zipper-lock Plastic Bag

Step1
Examine the shoes. Are the insoles damp and causing the odor? Remove them and dry them. Or replace them with insoles formulated to kill bacterial growth, available at drugstores.

Step2
If the shoes are slightly damp, place them in the sun or near a heater and allow to dry thoroughly. Remove laces and lift the shoes' tongues to fully air out the shoes.

Step3
Put the shoes in a zipper-lock plastic bag and place them in the freezer overnight. The freezing temperatures will kill most odor-causing bacteria.

Step4
If odor remains after the freezing, pour baking soda into the shoes and leave it in overnight to absorb the odors. Or use products designed to remove shoe odor, which are available at supermarkets and drugstores.

Step5
If all else fails, go to a pet store and purchase an odor remover such as Nature's Miracle that contains enzymes or bacteria. The enzymes and bacteria in these products literally eat away the source of the bad odors. Follow the instructions carefully as you apply the product to your shoes.

Tips:

Dry shoes thoroughly after they become wet to prevent smelly bacterial growth.

If your feet sweat a lot, wear lightweight cotton socks that allow your feet to breathe. You can also try odor-absorbing foot powder. And invest in two pairs of athletic shoes so that your shoes can dry out.

Prevent Shoe Odor

Things Youâll Need:

Comfortable Shoes
Men's Dress Shoes
Running Shoes
Women's Dress Shoes
Antibacterial Soaps
Foot Buffers
Foot Lotions
Pedicure Kits
Talcum Powder

Step1
Wash your feet thoroughly with antibacterial soap, and scrub between your toes. Dry your feet completely after washing.

Step2
Apply antiperspirants to your feet to control moisture if your feet sweat excessively. Use antiperspirants specifically designed for feet rather than underarm products. You can also apply antibacterial gels to your feet to control bacterial growth, or antifungal powder to prevent athlete's foot.

Step3
Wear absorbent socks, such as cotton, and avoid nylon socks, which don't absorb sweat very well. Change socks once or twice a day if your feet sweat a lot.

Step4
Wear shoes that breathe, such as sandals or shoes made from mesh and canvas. Allowing your feet to air out reduces bacterial growth.

Step5
Avoid wearing shoes two days in a row'let them air out for 24 hours between uses.

Step6
Remove the insoles and allow them to air out for 24 hours after an excessively sweaty day, or if your shoes get wet.

Tips:

If fashion dictates that you wear your shoes without socks, shake in a bit of talcum powder to absorb sweat.

If your shoes ever get drenched on a rainy day, let them dry completely before wearing them again.

What is a good cross training shoe for men?

I do some light running, a lot of weight lifting and some dynamic anaerobic excercises. I'm looking for something that's versatile and durable enough that can support light hiking as well as indoor gym activity. I heard good things about the NB 1010. I've had bad experiences with Nike in the past. What else is out there that's worth the money?
