I dont want to buy them only to find I cant jog in them.

Answer
They are like running barefoot. In some ways, they are better because they encourage a more natural running style. ie. Landing more mid-forefoot. It does take time to get used to them though. You cant just throw them on and go run 5 mile. Because there is practically zero cushioning, you will be using your calves a lot more, and if you normally heel-strike or have bad running form, you will end up getting injured. The thing is, we have become accustomed to running in cushioned shoes, which has actually made our feet and legs weaker. Running in barefoot shoes, you need to build up the strength in your feet, legs and joints before you go on long runs in them. Start out with 1 or 2 miles and gradually build up. Then use your normal shoes the other days. It will take a month or two to get used to them.

comfortable rainy weather running shoe?

Brandon

i recently bought a pair of nike air max 2011's and couldnt be happier with them...except theyre mesh which is great for now in summer but come fall/winter ill need something more water tight, i dont want to sacrifice the cushion and ergonomics of the shoe though, any good styles i should look for?

im generally a heel striker so ill need plenty of shock absorbtion, good arch support and durability are a must.

Answer
Shoes are not going to be water tight regardless what they are made of.
When it is raining my feet get wet in all of my different shoes.
I have different shoes so I don't run in the same pair and allow them to dry before using again.
The advantage to the mesh shoes is that they dry faster than others.
