what kind of running shoes should i get for conditioning . it has to have an arch and support . thanks in advance !

They should measure your foot in several different ways and watch you walk and run both barefoot and in socks (if they don't do this, go somewhere else). Based on this information, the person doing the fitting should be able to pull out several different shoes that might be a good match for you; then it's a matter of taking a little walk/run in each of them and deciding which is the most comfortable.

what brand of running shoes are the best? what kind? Any tips for buying running shoes would be greatly appreciated.

Running shoes are a pretty individual decision, based on how you walk/run, what kind of mileage you do, and what kind of surface you'll run on most of the time.
I went to a New Balance store for my most recent pair, and got great help for the sales person, who had me walk barefoot in the store so he could help me make the best decision. He also asked about how I was running now and what my intentions /goals were.
In the city where I live, there's a similar store that has helpful sales clerks, but sells a wider variety of brands. A nearby town has a Fleet Feet store, and they do the same sort of thing, I hear.
