I'll be auditioning for a Disney face character in a couple months, and was wondering what the best way to prepare was. I know that it's difficult to know exactly what to prepare for, but do any of you who have auditioned have any tips? Thank you so much!

Answer
First of all, smile! (: As a Princess, you'll have to smile! Especially at auditions. Make sure you're friendly and smiling at all times. Practice being princessy. If you wear any makeup, make sure it's very light and natural. You're auditioning with your face, they want to see it! Haha. And work on your improv!

Get some good headshots taken to bring with your resume, if you don't have them already. (If you don't have a resume, put one together. It's not that difficult, and you don't need a lot of experience on it! Don't worry about that too much, just make sure you have it.)

At the auditions, there will be a LOT of people there. Get there early, so you can get in there in one of the first groups, and not have to wait in line for hours. Basically, you'll be taken into the audition room with a group of other people (they'll do groups of around 20-40 at a time), and they will make their first cuts on looks alone. You will just stand straight up in a line (SMILING!), and they will walk up and down the line and look you up and down. (There is a small possibility they will ask you a simple question, like ask how you're doing. This isn't too likely, but be prepared to smile and answer confidently with something like "I'm doing great!") There is then a small dance audition, but don't sweat that. It's simple steps, and it's very short. Also, it's not so much whether you are the best dancer as it is just smiling and looking like you're having fun. You're not auditioning as a dancing princess performer, you're auditioning to be a meet and greet look a like. That means your technique isn't the most important thing. So make sure that, even if you think you are doing a terrible job, you look as if you're having the time of your life!
Then they will ask one or two people to stay, and dismiss the rest. Before you have a chance to act for them, or speak with them, or anything. They make the cuts on looks. After all, they need someone who looks like the character!

On the chance that you make it past the first cut, congratulations!! You get to do some improv (usually something random, like they'll ask you to mime picking acorns out of a tree, or washing a car. Use big motions, and be very expressive!), and maybe even try on costumes and wigs! However, if you don't make it, you shouldn't let that discourage you from auditioning again! I'd encourage you to. Perhaps you just weren't what that particular casting director was looking for or something.

Your weight/height is also a huge factor. Princesses are pretty tall, and although you'll be wearing character shoes if you get the part, you should still be at LEAST five four. (Wendy/Alice are shorter, like five foot.) Also, the costumes they have are expensive! That means they don't measure you and then order one to fit you. Either you fit the costume they have, or you don't. And if you don't, you don't get the part. If you're pretty average, that's good. A lot of girls think they have to be stick skinny, but they don't even have a size 0 costume! The dresses are US size 6 or 8 usually.

Break a leg at your audition, and HAVE FUN! Those auditions are great opportunity to meet some awesome people and make new friends! (:

how much money should I take to Disney World?

me and 3 of my friends are going to Disney World from Thursday morning to Sunday night.
On friday evening we are going to Cirque de soleil. My friends parents already paid for the tickets and hotel room and are providing transportation, etc...
I was wondering how much money I should take to spend at the parks (food, sovuiners, etc) Im not sure if my friends parents are paying for our food, but im not expecting them too as they paid for everything else.
Ive never been to Disney either and was also wondering what I should pack.

Thanks!

Answer
your friend must have some very amazing parents if they are willing to pay for all of that!
Disney can get quite expensive. so I would say to take around $175 per day.
heres a layout plan:
$10 for breakfast
$15 for lunch
$20-25 for dinner
$50 for water and snacks throughout the day
$75 for souviners (mickey ears, stuffed animals, shirt, photos, etc...)

I would recommend taking a poncho or raincoat for the afternoon rainstorms, which are likely to occur. Also, comfortable walking shoes and loose clothing. It will be extremely hot so maybe buy one of those mister fans at the dollar store before hand.
