I have really lightweight Asics running shoes. Can I wear them instead of volleyball shoes? What are the significance of the soles on volleyball shoes?

Answer
you can do that as long as the soles dont leave black marks on the court.
well i guess the thing about volleyball shoes is that it has a good grip so you wont slide on the courts. thats not good because for example if you jump, and slide when you land you can get hurt. but anyways the sliding thing is just not good. another significance about the soles is that it is super shock absorbent.
well anyways you can definitely wear your regular ones, but if you plan on playing for a while (club, school, etc) it would be a good idea to get volleyball shoes

Whether to get minimalist running shoes or not?

Kyle

Just wondering what peoples opinions are of the minimalist running shoes that have less cushion and a lower heel. I have only ever run in traditional running shoes, so I don't plan on jumping right into it, but I want to know if it is worthwhile to transition to or if its just a fad. The idea sounds really nice to me, because Ive always had trouble finding running shoes that felt comfortable, even in legit running shoe stores.

Answer
Barefoot or minimalist running is not a fad. Humans have been running barefoot since the beginning of time and without all the running injuries that exist today.

Minimalist running promotes running on the forefoot or mid-foot. There have been many studies that indicate that these footstrikes generate less injuries and that regular running shoes promote heel striking. Some of these reports are discussed in the link below.

In my opinion, it seems like a much more natural choice and it is worth trying. I have recently started to transition to running in Vibrams and I really like them. Currently, I am only doing one run a week in these, but I plan to gradually increase it to all my runs.

If you find regular running shoes uncomfortable, minimalist shoes may be the answer for you.
