The last several pairs of athletic shoes I've purchased, the back sole separates from the shoe after wearing for a few weeks. I've tried rubber cement, fixture adhesive and silicone caulk. None of these work. Any suggestions?

The best glue is something called "Goop" Make sure you clean the rubber parts with a solvent. An alcohol will work, but so will something stronger like acetone (don't use too much or your shoe will dissolve). Clamp the parts together for 24 hours - a regular clamp is best but a couple of boards wrapped together with rope will work too.

What is the best athletic shoe for an overweight woman?
Q. Any overweight women know of a really comfortable athletic shoe that is good for walking for long periods of time? I'm having trouble finding a comfortable shoe that won't make my feet hurt while walking. And also one that isn't absolutely hideous.

Try buying shoes in a wider size. Plus size clothing stores like avenue, fashion bug, lane bryant, catherines, catos, ect. Have athletic shoes available in double wide as well. You can also check ebay. I found when I started exercising to lose weight most shoes were actually very comfortable, but after walking my feet leaned to the outside and it was uncomfortable. After buying a decent pair of tennis shoes in a wider size that fixed the problem. I didn't have to buy anything expensive, but you should if you want them to last longer and wear better.
